But the Helper, the Holy Spirit

Topic:  We Have The Best Counselor, The Holy Spirit

But  the  Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will  send in My name,  He will teach you all things, and bring to your  remembrance all things that I said to you.

John 14:26 (NKJV)

However, when He,  the Spirit of truth, has come,  He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own  authority,  but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare  it  to you.

John 16:13, 14 (NKJV)

Bible In A Year Reading Plan

1 Chronicles 8-9

Bible Versions:

Juan 14:26 (NLT) — But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you.

Juan 16:13–14 (NLT) — When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own but will tell you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future.    He will bring me glory by telling you whatever he receives from me.

Devotional Thoughts:

What a privilege it is to have the Holy Spirit as our Helper. He is always with us to guide us and teach us all truth. Jesus promised his disciples that he would never leave them; but that he would send his Holy Spirit to remind them of all the things he had taught them. His Word tells us, “And I will pray the Father, and  He will give you another  Helper, that He may abide with you forever— the Spirit of truth,  whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you  and will be in you.    I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you. (John 14:16-18). Jesus referred to the Holy Spirit as our Helper, of which the definition is, “one called to be at the side of another in order to assist”. Today we have the blessing and privilege of having he who equips us, dwelling inside us. What better teacher could we have! He will equip us to fulfill the calling and purpose God has for our lives.

We should always be open to the direction and teaching of The Holy Spirit. He will open the eyes of our understanding to better understand His Word. Without Him, we will not be able to fully understand The Word of God in its totality. In 1 Corinthians 2:13 it says, “These things we also speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual”. It is the ministry and labor of The Holy Spirit to teach and equips us to fulfill the ministry we have. He is more than willing to take us to other levels of maturity and growth, but it’s on us to be open to receive his teaching.

We cannot make the mistake to try to do ministry without the assistance of The Holy Spirit. It is for this reason that on occasions there is so much failure in the work of The Lord, why? We have not allowed the Holy Spirit to equip us! Scripture warns us, “And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption” Ephesians 4:30. We should pray this day that the Holy Spirit may be the one to teach and train us to do the work of The Lord. Only through His equipping will we come to see results and lasting fruit.

Foundational Scriptures:

John 16:13–14 (NKJV) — However, when He,  the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own  authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.   He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare  it  to you.

Hebrews 8:10 (NKJV) — For this    is    the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the  Lord : I will put My laws in their mind and write them on their hearts; and  I will be their God, and they shall be My people.

1 John 2:20 (NKJV) — But  you have an anointing  from the Holy One, and  you know all things.

1 John 2:27 (NKJV) — But the  anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and  you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing  teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him.

Psalms 119:135 (NKJV) — Make Your face shine upon Your servant, And teach me Your statutes.

Romans 8:26 (NKJV) — Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For  we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but  the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
