Devotional Thoughts:

This morning there will be occasions where we will see ourselves full of weaknesses and fears. Perhaps the situations we face have wanted to discourage and wear us down. It may be that things are not going our way and we do not understand what is happening. We read in Judges 6:13 that this was the situation of the people of Israel, ” Gideon said to Him, “O my lord,[a] if the Lord is with us, why then has all this happened to us? And where are all His miracles which our fathers told us about, saying, ‘Did not the Lord bring us up from Egypt?’ But now the Lord has forsaken us and delivered us into the hands of the Midianites.”

It is in situations like these that God gives us security and strength to keep going. In the midst of our weakness, the Lord sees us strong! Gideon is called a warrior and brave man, when the truth was that he was full of fear and discouragement. In Judges 6:14 we see that even God commissions him for the task of defeating the enemy, “ Then the Lord turned to him and said, Go in this might of yours, and you shall save Israel from the hand of the Midianites. Have I not sent you?”  God looked at Gideon beyond his own strength, beyond how he looked at himself.

Today we can trust that our situation in the hands of the Lord will turn out well. Maybe at times fear and doubt will paralyze us to move forward. But we must trust that God is with us, no matter what our own emotions tell us! If we depend on God and submit to his will, everything will go well. Remember the promise given to Joshua, “  No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life; as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you nor forsake you. (Joshua 1: 5).  Therefore, fear not, do not be dismayed, God sees you as a warrior! In God ,we are strong, and in God we are victorious.
