Today Is The Day Of Salvation!

Theme: The Urgency of Proclaiming the Gospel

For he says, “In the time of my favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you.” I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor; today is the day of salvation!

2 Corinthians 6:2 (NIV)

Plan to Read the Bible in 2024

1 Samuel 9-12

Bible Versions:

2 Corinthians 6:2 (NKJV) — For He says: “In an acceptable time I have heard you, and in the day of salvation I have helped you.” Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.

2 Corinthians 6:2 (The Message) — It’s God who says, “At the right time, I listened to you, on the day of salvation I helped you.” Indeed, the right time is now; today is the day of salvation.

2 Corinthians 6:2 (NLT) — For God says, “At just the right time, I heard you. On the day of salvation, I helped you.” Yes, the “right time” is now. Today is the day of salvation.

Devotional Thought:

The Bible talks about the urgency of preaching the gospel all over the world. When one reads the Scriptures, the emphasis on salvation is always on Today, not waiting for tomorrow! The Lord shows us that He is with His arms open to receive the great multitudes of people in need of salvation. His mercy and love are available for all humanity. His desire is that no one perishes, but that everyone comes to repentance as 2 Peter 3:9 says, “The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise, as some understand slowness. Instead He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”

Sometimes this urgency is absent in the lives of many Christians. There are believers who have lost the passion to bring needy souls to the feet of the Lord. Often their lives are so filled with distractions and occupations that they don’t have time to consider the sad condition of a lost world in need of God’s love. Today there are thousands of people who are in the condition of the foolish man in Luke 12:19–20, “And I’ll say to myself, ‘You have plenty of good things laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry.’ But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?'”

There is no time to waste today; there are people who are on the verge of entering an eternity without Christ. For them, there is only a limited time left to have an opportunity to accept the Lord into their lives. There is no time to lose! If we don’t take this urgency seriously, thousands will be lost due to our lack of diligence and passion. The Lord gives us a warning in Ezekiel 3:18, “When I say to a wicked person, ‘You will surely die,’ and you do not warn them or speak out to dissuade them from their evil ways in order to save their life, that wicked person will die for their sin, and I will hold you accountable for their blood.”

The responsibility is ours; it is personal and urgent. There is no time to waste! Let’s pray that God puts a burden, an urgency in our hearts to proclaim the gospel everywhere and to the whole world.

Key Scriptures:

Isaiah 55:6 (NKJV) — Seek the Lord while He may be found, Call upon Him while He is near.

Psalm 69:13 (NKJV) — But as for me, my prayer is to You, O Lord, at an acceptable time; O God, in the abundance of Your steadfast love answer me in Your saving faithfulness.

Hebrews 3:13 (NKJV) — But exhort one another daily, while it is called “Today,” lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.

Joshua 24:15 (NKJV) — And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.

Isaiah 1:18 (NKJV) — “Come now, and let us reason together,” says the Lord, “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool.” I invite you to share this devotional today!
