My Presence Will Go with You

Theme: We Can Depend on His Presence Going with Us.

“Now therefore, I pray, if I have found grace in Your sight, show me now Your way, that I may know You and that I may find grace in Your sight. And consider that this nation is Your people.” And He said, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” Then he said to Him, “If Your Presence does not go with us, do not bring us up from here.”

Exodus 33:13-15 (NKJV)

Daily Reading Plan

Nehemiah 4-6

Bible Versions:

Exodus 33:13–15 (TLA) — 13 If that is true, tell me what you plan to do, so that I may come to love you and you continue to trust me. Do not forget that this people is yours and not mine. 14 God answered: “I will go with you myself and I will make you calm.” 15 Moses said to Him: “If you are not going to go with us, do not ask us to leave here.”

Devotional Thought:

It is when we have intimacy with the Holy Spirit that He speaks to us and instructs us to make the right decisions and steps in our lives. There is no reason to walk without direction! The Holy Spirit has promised to be with us on our journey. Every step we take toward our future, He desires to go before us, guiding our way. Just as the people of Israel experienced, “And the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead the way, and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so as to go by day and night” (Exodus 13:21).

There are moments in our lives when we do not know what decisions to make. Feelings of insecurity and uncertainty may try to take hold of our lives as we look to our future. It is in these moments that we must know that God will never abandon us. What helped His servant Moses when he faced this? It was his relationship with God. He knew God in a personal and special way. Scripture teaches us that, “So the Lord spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend” (Exodus 33:11). Moses had a friendship with the Lord! It was this relationship that made him strong and confident to carry out the commission that God had given him.

We must pray this morning that the presence of God always goes before us. His presence is what will open doors of blessing and provision. Our responsibility is only to ensure that God goes before us as a mighty giant. Jeremiah 20:11 tells us, “But the Lord is with me as a mighty, awesome One. Therefore my persecutors will stumble, and will not prevail…” Today we cannot go ahead of God! Only God knows the perfect moment and time to bring everything we desire into our lives. We must completely depend on His Spirit. If His presence goes before us, we will certainly fulfill our destiny!

Key Scriptures:

Exodus 13:21 (NKJV) — 21 And the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead the way, and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so as to go by day and night.

Joshua 1:5 (NKJV) — 5 No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life; as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you nor forsake you.

Psalm 32:8 (NKJV) — 8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye.
