Born Of The Spirit

Topic: We Are Born Again By The Work Of The Holy Spirit In Our Lives.

Jesus answered: Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he can not enter the kingdom of God.6 What is born of the flesh is flesh; and what is born of the Spirit, spirit is.

John 3: 5-6 (NKJV)

Daily Reading Plan for 2018

2 Chronicles 21-24

Bible Versions:

The Message (MSG) 5-6 Jesus said, “You’re not listening. Let me say it again. Unless a person submits to this original creation—the ‘wind-hovering-over-the-water’ creation, the invisible moving the visible, a baptism into a new life—it’s not possible to enter God’s kingdom. When you look at a baby, it’s just that: a body you can look at and touch. But the person who takes shape within is formed by something you can’t see and touch—the Spirit—and becomes a living spirit.

Living Bible (TLB) Jesus replied, “What I am telling you so earnestly is this: Unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the Kingdom of God. Men can only reproduce human life, but the Holy Spirit gives new life from heaven

Good News Translation (GNT) “I am telling you the truth,” replied Jesus, “that no one can enter the Kingdom of God without being born of water and the Spirit. A person is born physically of human parents, but is born spiritually of the Spirit.

Thoughts of Devotion:

The miracle of the new birth in us was the work of the Holy Spirit. We were begotten to a new life, not by the will of man, but imparted by the Holy Spirit! In John 1: 12-13 he tells us, “But to all who received him, to those who believe in his name, he gave them the right to become children of God; who are not begotten of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” From the first day that we were born again, the Holy Spirit had a great part in it, we were born not of flesh and blood, but we were born of the Spirit!

The source of our spiritual birth was the Holy Spirit, He alone can produce a spiritual, dynamic and glorious life! He brought a new order, the old has passed and now the new comes to us. This is what 2 Corinthians 5:17 tells us, “so that if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; old things happened; behold, all are made new.” Everything new in our lives came through the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives, by our own efforts this will never have been accomplished!

Today we possess and participate in a new nature, we possess a divine nature. This starts with the Holy Spirit, and will only continue when you have an intimate communion with Him! He not only started the work, but he will also finish it in our lives if we permit Him to do so.  Remember the promise in Ezekiel 36:26-27, “I will give you a new heart, and put a new spirit within you; and I will take away the heart of stone from your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit within you, and I will cause you to walking my statutes, and keep my precepts, and do them.”

All of us who have been born again have the ability to live a spiritual life that pleases God. Through the fullness of the Holy Spirit we are able to walk as spiritual men and women. It is through Him that we are able to participate in our divine nature. This is what Romans 8:13 tells us, “because if you live according to the flesh, you will die; But if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the flesh, you will live.” Now let us live this supernatural life in the Holy Spirit, let us not be satisfied with anything less than this! Amen.

Fundamental Scriptures:

Titus 3: 5 (NKJV) – 5 saved us, not by works of righteousness that we would have done, but by his mercy, by the washing of regeneration and by the renewal in the Holy Spirit,

1 Peter 1: 2 (NKJV) – 2 chosen according to the foreknowledge of God the Father in sanctification of the Spirit, to obey and be sprinkled with the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace and peace be multiplied to you.

1 John 5: 6 (NKJV) – 6 This is Jesus Christ, who came by water and blood; not by water alone, but by water and blood. And the Spirit is the one who bears witness; because the Spirit is the truth.

Ephesians 2: 3 (NKJV) – 3 among whom also all of us once lived in the lusts of our flesh, doing the will of the flesh and of the thoughts, and were by nature children of wrath, as well as others .

John 6:63 (NKJV) – 63 It is the spirit that gives life; the flesh profits nothing; the words that I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life.

John 1: 12-13 (NKJV) – 12 But to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave them the right to become children of God; 13 who are not begotten of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

Romans 8: 1 (NKJV) – 1 Now then, there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.

Romans 8:13 (NKJV) – 13 for if you live according to the flesh, you will die; But if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.

2 Corinthians 5:17 (NKJV) – 17 So if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things happened; behold, all are made new.
