Devotional Thought:

When God says He will bless you, get ready because His blessings are always more abundant than you can imagine! He always surprises us beyond what we can understand. For Abraham, the promise was, “Indeed I will bless you, and I will multiply your descendants as the stars of the heavens and as the sand which is on the seashore; and your descendants shall possess the gates of their enemies” (Genesis 22:17). God blessed Abraham in such a way that He multiplied his descendants like the stars and sand; God did not think small, on the contrary, He blessed him greatly!

The primary purpose for which God blesses us is so that we can be a blessing to others! His plan is not for us to keep the blessing but to be generous and liberal with what He has placed in our hands. We should give to God from the much that He has blessed us with and make treasures in heaven. Luke 12:33–34 tells us, “Sell what you have and give alms; provide yourselves money bags which do not grow old, a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches nor moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

It is a privilege to be able to bless the work of God and His house. When one thinks about how good God has been to us, considering how much He has blessed us! In Luke 6:38, “Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.” The rule of giving is that God never keeps anything; the blessing always comes back to us! It is like the law of sowing, what we sow we also reap! Today God wants us to be instruments, vessels of His blessing, understanding that He blesses us to then be a blessing.
