I Was Not Disobedient To The Heavenly Vision

Topic: We Must Obey And Run With The Vision.

“Therefore, King Agrippa, I was not disobedient to the heavenly vision,

Acts 26:19 (NKJV)

2 Then the Lord answered me and said: “Write the vision And make it plain on tablets, That he may run who reads it. 3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come, It will not tarry.

Habakkuk 2:2–3 (NKJV)

Bible In A Year Reading Plan

Daniel 5-7

Bible Versions:

Habakkuk 2:2–3 (MSG) — 2-3 And then God answered: “Write this. Write what you see. Write it out in big block letters so that it can be read on the run. This vision-message is a witness pointing to what’s coming. It aches for the coming—it can hardly wait! And it doesn’t lie. If it seems slow in coming, wait. It’s on its way. It will come right on time.

Thoughts Of Devotion:

We must understand that God desires us to have a vision for our future, a complete vision that includes our personal life, the local church, and our international ministry. We can look to the future and believe that the Lord, day by day will develop these three areas in our lives. The Lord through his Holy Spirit will bring more clarity and will reveal with more detail His vision for us, but at the same time I ask myself, what will it take from our behalf to see the fulfillment of this vision?

In the portions of scripture, we read this morning, there are two words that stand out, obey and run. These two words are verbs that require action on our behalf. In other words, God has already given his promise and He will do his work so that his plans and purposes in us are fulfilled. But it will take action and determination from our behalf to see its fulfillment! We can’t just desire for things to be different; God requires action from our behalf. Without there being action on our behalf it’s very probable that we will not see the fulfillment of God’s promises and destiny for us. God will do his part, my question is, will we do ours?

The Apostle Paul came to say “I was not disobedient to the heavenly vision” because he understood that it was a heavenly vision. It was not a vision that was composed of an emotion or something temporary, it was a vision with a commission. He was sure and firm in his calling, he was not moved from the reality that God had commissioned him. As a result, Paul had no option but to obey the vision that the Lord had given him. Obedience with passion, a flame that burned in the depths of his being, that despite the battles and tests he was determined to fulfill the heavenly vision.

The prophet Habakkuk was given a vision, but the vision was to be written on tablets with the purpose of everyone who read it would run with it. Vision is action! When we receive God’s vision, impulse and momentum are required. We cannot stay sitting or immobile expecting the vision to fulfill itself. Vision is movement and progress towards our future. Even when we don’t yet see its fulfillment, remember that the eyes of faith see far beyond what we can see with our natural eyes. We must believe that at the exact and precise moment the Lord will allow us to see 100% of the fulfillment of the promise and vision. Don’t doubt! Believe God and run-in faith towards the direction that he is taking us.
