Having Done All To Stand

Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Ephesians 6:13 (NKJV)

 Daily Reading Plan

2 Kings 22-25

Bible Versions:

Ephesians 6:13 (NLT) – 13 Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm.

Ephesians 6:13 (NIV) – 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.

Ephesians 6:13 (MSG) – 13 Be prepared. You’re up against far more than you can handle on your own. Take all the help you can get, every weapon God has issued, so that when it’s all over but the shouting you’ll still be on your feet.

Thoughts of Devotion:

The Bible tells us of a spiritual battle that we will continually face. Day by day we are ravaged by the enemy’s attacks on us. Someone may ask, how long will we be fighting this spiritual battle? When will this conflict end? The answer is simple, never! For us as believers we will be fighting and fighting this battle every day of our lives. This battle will not cease or stop until we finish our walk with God here on earth. Our goal should be to fulfill the words written by the Apostle Paul in 2 Timothy 4: 7, “have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”

We will face these conflicts continually, and no doubt we will all have to go out and face our spiritual battles. These battles are for us to fight individually. No one else will be able to fight our battles, only us! Each conflict will come in different shapes and forms. We know how the enemy has an arsenal of ways to attack us. Our enemy will try to find a weak area where he can enter and weaken our spiritual lives. One thing we must be sure of is that the enemy will be persistent. He will not rest until he can see his plans and tricks opposed in our lives.

Knowing this, what hope is there that we will be victorious? What promises us that we will be victorious? The hope we have is that we possess the one who triumphs over all and has never lost any battle, Jesus Christ! He promises to be with us to the end. He will never leave us or abandon us. No matter how intense the conflict becomes, he will be with us always. On this day, Jesus warns us in Mark 13:13, “And you will be hated by all for My name’s sake. But he who endures to the end shall be saved.” Let us pray that our perseverance in this battle will not only last a few days, or months. Let us be determined to remain and stay in the battle every day of our lives. Let us be sure that God will always give us assured victory!
