Thoughts of Devotion:
Undoubtedly in the Christian life we are going to experience difficulties and challenges that will come into our lives, we are not exempt from problems! Our journey in this world is sure to bring a good deal of hardship to us. Even our Lord Jesus Christ told us of this in John 16:33, “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” These things will come to us to want to bring concern, anguish and unease. If we allow it, we will surely fall into a state of discouragement and the enemy will succeed in robbing us of our peace and security in God.
It is for this reason that the Apostle Paul warns the brothers who were in Philippi not to let worry and anxiety move them from their security in the Lord. No matter what they were going through, Paul assures them that there was no reason for them to live their lives in anguish and discouragement. This reminds me of what Jesus said to his disciples in Matthew 6: 31–32, ““Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.”
Today we can live lives free from anxiety and worry in whatever situation we are facing. As difficult or impossible as it may seem, God offers us a peace that passes all understanding! It is peace from God that one receives by praying and interceding for our situation. In this morning you can be free from worry. Anxiety does not have to dwell in your heart and mind. We must be still and know that God is in control of our future. In Matthew 6:34 he tells us, “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” In this life, why should you be tormented with worries when God cares for you? Have the confidence and assurance that God cares for you, and that our tomorrow is in the hands of the Lord.
