You Would Enlarge My Territory

Topic: To See Expansion We Must Pray For God To Expand Our Territory.

And Jabez called on the God of Israel saying, “Oh, that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain!” So God granted him what he requested.

1 Chronicles 4:10 (NKJV)

Daily Reading Plan

Numbers 25-26

Bible Versions:

1 Chronicles 4:10 (MSG) – 10 Jabez prayed to the God of Israel: “Bless me, O bless me! Give me land, large tracts of land. And provide your personal protection—don’t let evil hurt me.” God gave him what he asked.

1 Chronicles 4:10 (NLT) – 10 He was the one who prayed to the God of Israel, “Oh, that you would bless me and expand my territory! Please be with me in all that I do, and keep me from all trouble and pain!” And God granted him his request.

1 Chronicles 4:10 (NIV) – 10 Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, “Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.” And God granted his request.

Thoughts of Devotion:

Thank God that He always hears our cry. When we pray to Him we can trust that he hears us, He is attentive to our supplication! From the first patriarchs we have been able to see how they invoked the name of God, to receive his request! In Genesis 12:8 we see the example of Abram, how he built an altar to bring his requests to God, “And he moved from there to the mountain east of Bethel, and he pitched his tent with Bethel on the west and Ai on the east; there he built an altar to the Lord and called on the name of the Lord.

Here we can see how Jabes was very specific in his prayer. He cried out to God to grant him the ability to expand his territory. His desire was for God to bless him and prosper him in all that he would undertake. His prayer was that God would expand his life to the fullest. This reminds me of the promise we find in Ephesians 3:20, where he tells us, “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.”

Today God wants to do the same with us, we cannot limit ourselves! We must cry out to God that he expand us and grow us to our full capacity in this year 2021. We have the promise of Isaiah 54: 2–3, ““Enlarge the place of your tent, And let them stretch out the curtains of your dwellings; Do not spare; Lengthen your cords, And strengthen your stakes. For you shall expand to the right and to the left, And your descendants will inherit the nations, And make the desolate cities inhabited.” If we cry out to God, he will take our life to another level! We will expand our territory, and we will make an impact on this generation.

Foundational Scriptures:

Genesis 12: 8 (NKJV) – 8 And he moved from there to the mountain east of Bethel, and he pitched his tent with Bethel on the west and Ai on the east; there he built an altar to the Lord and called on the name of the Lord.

Psalm 116: 2–4 (NKJV) – 2 Because He has inclined His ear to me, Therefore I will call upon Him as long as I live. The pains of death surrounded me, And the pangs of Sheol laid hold of me; I found trouble and sorrow. Then I called upon the name of the Lord: O Lord, I implore You, deliver my soul!

Jeremiah 33: 3 (NKJV) – 3 Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.

Genesis 32:26 (NKJV) – 26 And He said, “Let Me go, for the day breaks.” But he said, I will not let You go unless You bless me

Ephesians 1: 3 (NKJV) – 3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ,

Isaiah 41:10 (NKJV) – 10 Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’

John 17:15 (NKJV) – 15  I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one.

Ephesians 3:20 (NKJV) – 20 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,
