Third Principle: Intercessory Prayer Is Priority, We Will Build A House Of Prayer In 2021!
Even them I will bring to My holy mountain, And make them joyful in My house of prayer. Their burnt offerings and their sacrifices Will be accepted on My altar; For My house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations.”
Isaiah 56:7 (NKJV)
And He said to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer,’ but you have made it a ‘den of thieves.’ ”
Matthew 21:13 (NKJV)
Daily Reading Plan
Numbers 19 – 21
Isaiah 56: 7 (NLT) – 7 I will bring them to my holy mountain of Jerusalem and will fill them with joy in my house of prayer. I will accept their burnt offerings and sacrifices, because my Temple will be called a house of prayer for all nations.
Matthew 21:13 (NLT) – 13 He said to them, “The Scriptures declare, ‘My Temple will be called a house of prayer,’ but you have turned it into a den of thieves!”
Thoughts of Devotion:
Jesus made a powerful statement, My temple should be a house of prayer, a place where the cry and supplication rise before the presence of God continually. A place where continual intercession must be taking place at all times. In 1 Kings 8: 29–30 he tells us, “that Your eyes may be open toward this temple night and day, toward the place of which You said, ‘My name shall be there,’ that You may hear the prayer which Your servant makes toward this place. And may You hear the supplication of Your servant and of Your people Israel, when they pray toward this place. Hear in heaven Your dwelling place; and when You hear, forgive.”
God’s promise is that He will hear our cry, the plea of Hhis beloved people who unite in prayer and intercession. His ears will be attentive to our prayer, He will never stop attending to our needs! We can see that this is the blessing of congregational prayer, united prayer, together unanimously crying out to the Lord in one voice in 2021! A church united in prayer will always be powerful, overflowing with the Holy Spirit, making an impact in its community and the world. The Word teaches us that unity in prayer between two believers produces powerful results. Psalm 133: 1 says, “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is For brethren to dwell together in unity!”
We see that agreeing literally means, “agreeing in sound.” In other words, God wants us together to form a symphony of prayer in this year 2021! And this only happens with a church that is filled with believers with faith who believe in the power of united prayer. Today we are challenged to build a church of prayer, a congregation that invests time on its knees, to see all that God has for us in these times! This morning let’s be part of the army of intercessors that God is raising up. Let us be part of a congregation full of believers who cry out to God day and night. Amen!
1 Kings 8: 29–30 (ESV) – 29 that Your eyes may be open toward this temple night and day, toward the place of which You said, ‘My name shall be there,’ that You may hear the prayer which Your servant makes toward this place. 30 And may You hear the supplication of Your servant and of Your people Israel, when they pray toward this place. Hear in heaven Your dwelling place; and when You hear, forgive.”
1 Kings 8:43 (ESV) – 43 hear in heaven Your dwelling place, and do according to all for which the foreigner calls to You, that all peoples of the earth may know Your name and fear You, as do Your people Israel, and that they may know that this temple which I have built is called by Your name.
2 Chronicles 6:40 (KJV) – 40 Now, my God, I pray, let Your eyes be open and let Your ears be attentive to the prayer made in this place.
Zechariah 8:22 (KJV) – 22 Yes, many peoples and strong nations Shall come to seek the Lord of hosts in Jerusalem, And to pray before the Lord.’
