“A Call To Expand Our Vision In 2021”

Day 15: Monday, February 15

But If It Dies

Topic: To Bear Fruit And See Expansion, It Will Take A Great Price And Sacrifice!

Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain. 25 He who loves his life will lose it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life.

John 12: 24–25 (NKJV)

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.

Romans 12:1 (NKJV)

And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.

Galatians 6: 9 (NKJV)

Daily Reading Plan

Numbers 7

Bible Versions:

John 12:24 (NLT) – 24  I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat is planted in the soil and dies, it remains alone. But its death will produce many new kernels—a plentiful harvest of new lives.

Romans 12: 1 (NLT) – 1 And so, dear brothers and sisters,  I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him.

Galatians 6: 9 (NLT) – 9 So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.

Thoughts of Devotion:

The Lord through his Word asks us to live a life of sacrifice and surrender. Total commitment was something Jesus required of his followers. Jesus was always found calling men to leave everything to follow him. Jesus warned his disciples that following him would take sacrifice, suffering and even being willing to die. In Matthew 16:21 he tells us, “ From that time Jesus began to show to His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed…” Jesus wanted to make sure that his disciples understood that following him was not going to be easy.

We must face this reality this morning. Suffering and sacrifice will come into our lives if we wish to experience growth and expansion in the year 2021. There are no exceptions! We will all have to pay a price to see results in our spiritual lives. In Colossians 3: 3 he reminds us, “For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.” What a tremendous reality, we are already dead, we no longer live for ourselves. Our life belongs to Jesus. There will be moments that to follow him we will have to leave and abandon our plans and desires. Unless we are willing to step onto the altar of sacrifice, we will never see all that God has for our lives.

Let’s pray this morning that we never take our eyes off Jesus. May we always keep in mind the supreme sacrifice that he has made for our lives. The day will come when our commitment will be tested and we will have to present our lives as a sacrifice to the Lord. Will we be willing to do it? Only when we understand that there is no other way, that if the grain of wheat does not die, it will not bear its fruit! We will be willing to do so in this year 2021. My prayer is that together we are willing to commit ourselves to the Lord 100%. God promises us that the result will be a life that through our sacrifice will have much spiritual fruit. It is not in vain, the results will be eternal.

Foundational Scriptures:

1 Corinthians 15:36 (NKJV) – 36 Foolish one, what you sow is not made alive unless it dies.

John 15: 2 (NKJV) – 2 Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit.

Matthew 19:29 (NKJV) – 29 And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother [a]or wife or children or lands, for My name’s sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and inherit eternal life.

Acts 20:24 (NKJV) – 24 But none of these things move me; nor do I count my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.

Acts 21:13 (NKJV) – 13 Then Paul answered, “What do you mean by weeping and breaking my heart? For I am ready not only to be bound, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.”

Colossians 3: 3 (NKJV) – 3 For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
