Second Principle: Our Great Example Of Intercession Is Jesus, He Lives To Intercede For Us!
Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.

Thoughts of Devotion:
This morning, if we are to understand the ministry of intercessory prayer, it is very important to see the model that Jesus has left us. The Bible teaches us that today our Lord and Savior is at the right hand of the Father interceding for us. What security we have as believers, knowing that we have one who intercedes for us! On the contrary in Romans 8:34 we read, “Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.”
His ministry of intercession is “perpetual” that is, it is forever. Jesus made a sacrifice for us and now lives to pray for each of those who draw near to Him. In Hebrews 7:24 he tells us, “But He, because He continues forever, has an unchangeable priesthood.” This shows us the confidence we have in prayer. Our prayers are not in vain, but they have power in the name of Jesus! The moment one goes and seeks Jesus in prayer, the promise is that He intercedes to the Father for us! In John 16:23 he declares to us, “And in that day you will ask Me nothing. Most assuredly, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you.“
In this new year 2021 God wants to raise up men and women who will follow the model of Jesus in intercessory prayer. The Holy Spirit is calling us to take our place, to put ourselves in the gap of intercession! There are so many needs and we are not alone when we pray and cry out to heaven. On the contrary, in each prayer that we pray we unite ourselves with our mediator Jesus Christ. He not only hears our cry, but he certainly responds! He lives and remains forever before the Father for us as Hebrews 9:24 tells us, ” For Christ has not entered the holy places made with hands, which are copies of the true, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us.”
Let’s answer the call for intercessory prayer today! We have a mediator, a high priest and an advocate who is before God praying for us. We must take this privilege serious, our lives will not be the same if we do it! We will experience a personal transformation and in those for whom we lead in prayer. This is our time to see results and fruit in our prayers. If Jesus is our Great Intercessor then anything is possible!
Hebrews 2:18 (NKJV) – 18 For in that He Himself has suffered, being tempted, He is able to aid those who are tempted.
Hebrews 4:14 (NKJV) – 14 Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession.
Hebrews 9:24 (NKJV) – 24 For Christ has not entered the holy places made with hands, which are copies of the true, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us;
Isaiah 53:12 (NKJV) – 12 Therefore I will divide Him a portion with the great, And He shall divide the spoil with the strong, Because He poured out His soul unto death, And He was numbered with the transgressors, And He bore the sin of many, And made intercession for the transgressors.
John 14:16 (NKJV) – 16 And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever—
John 16:23 (NKJV) – 23 “And in that day you will ask Me nothing. Most assuredly, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you.
John 17: 9 (NKJV) – 9 “I pray for them. I do not pray for the world but for those whom You have given Me, for they are Yours.
John 17:11 (NKJV) – 11 Now I am no longer in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to You. Holy Father, keepthrough Your name those whom You have given Me, that they may be one as We are.
Romans 8:34 (NKJV) – 34 Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.
1 Timothy 2 : 5 (NKJV) – 5 For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus,
1 John 2: 1 (NKJV) – 1 My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.
Revelation 8: 3–4 N(KJV) – 3 Then another angel, having a golden censer, came and stood at the altar. He was given much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all the saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne. 4 And the smoke of the incense, with the prayers of the saints, ascended before God from the angel’s hand.
