So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found no one.

Thoughts of Devotion:
How many times does the Lord seek for someone to stand in the gap of intercession? His eyes often wander the earth to see if there is a man or a woman who would respond to the call of intercessory prayer, those believers who seek justice and desire the truth! May their hearts, in seeing the need and the sad condition of this world, manage to carry the very heartbeat of God. In Jeremiah 5:1 he tells us, “Run to and fro through the streets of Jerusalem; See now and know; And seek in her open places If you can find a man, If there is anyone who executes judgment, Who seeks the truth, And I will pardon her.”
Today there is a great wall that separates the immense need that exists in the world, and a loving God, who wishes to work with love and mercy. There is an urgency in the heart of God, a strong desire to find someone who says, here I am, I will step into the gap! I wonder, will we be the ones who respond to the call of intercession? Will we be willing to put aside indifference and apathy? We will need to pay a price, but if we don’t, then who will? Someone will have to do it!
The rebuke to Israel was this one. In Ezekiel 13: 5 he tells us, “You have not gone up into the gaps to build a wall for the house of Israel to stand in battle on the day of the Lord.” Today God calls us to step into the gap and build a wall of protection. There is a spiritual battle that is only going to be won in prayer! There is no other strategy that will give us complete victory over the enemy in this Year 2021. Let us pray that we will be the ones who will rise up in arms and stand in the gap of intercession for our family, church and city.
