Day 28: Thursday, January 28

The Lord Is My Helper

Topic: God Will Give Us The New Things He Has For Our Lives, Just Trust Him!

Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” 6 So we may boldly say: “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?”

Hebrews 13:5–6 (NKJV)

Daily Reading Plan

Exodus 29-30

Bible Versions:

Hebrews 13: 5 (MSG) – 5 Don’t be obsessed with getting more material things. Be relaxed with what you have. Since God assured us, “I’ll never let you down, never walk off and leave you,”

Hebrews 13: 5 (NLT) – 5 Don’t love money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said, “I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.”

Hebrews 13: 5 (NIV) – 5 Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”

Thoughts of Devotion:

The Bible warns us in the Book of Hebrews about the danger of living our lives with greed in our hearts.  This  warning is very necessary, especially when looking at the times in which we live.  The scriptures warn us, “But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come:” (2 Timothy 3: 1).  It is then without a doubt very important to be able to keep ourselves from the greed that surely abounds and exceeds in extreme in the world we live in.  Selfishness, greed, and inordinate desire for more have influenced our society in alarming ways, not to mention how it has influenced a large number of believers, to the point of abandoning the ways of the Lord.

We can see that the Hebrews experienced many losses due to their firmness of faith. The Bible teaches us that many of their material goods were taken for the sake of the gospel. We see this, as the author previously brings to their memory saying, “…and joyfully accepted the plundering of your goods, knowing that you have a better and an enduring possession for yourselves in heaven. (Hebreos 10:34b) What great faith of the Hebrew brothers! They didn’t lose their faith, on the contrary we see that their faith was strengthened even when they had to abandon material things, in order to inherit spiritual things. They didn’t allow covetousness for material things to separate them from their faith in God.

In this year 2021 we must trust in the new thing that God wants to do, even when we find ourselves in crisis and difficulty.  Let us understand that there is no place for greed in our lives because according to God’s word, He will “never leave us, nor forsake us.”  He always promises to be with us and to show us his new plans to provide for us.  Glory to God!  There is no reason to ever fear, because He will always be our provider in every circumstance we face.  We must never allow possessions to possess us!  it is possible to live satisfied with what we have, let us pray this day that the Lord can help us to trust in His provision in every moment of our lives.

Foundational Scriptures:

Deuteronomy 31: 6 (NKJV) – 6 Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.”

Deuteronomy 31: 8 (NKJV) – 8 And the Lord, He is the One who goes before you. He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed.”

Philippians 4:11 (NKJV) – 11 Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content:

Luke 16:13 (NKJV) – 13 “No servant can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.”

  1. We can’t get possessed and we can’t get off track with doing the things we love wether it’s being on your phone or it’s on some type of material because God has so much more better plans and gifts for us we just have to trust in him.

  2. It’s time to let go of our material desires and grab ahold of the newness God has to offer! If we just trust in Him he will be our helper.

  3. We must remain firm in the Lord remembering that he is our provider. He will never forsake us. He will help us in our lives we shall not need.
