 Thoughts of Devotion:

There is nothing that compares to a passionate prayer life!  When in the depths of our being there is a flame of fire that is not consumed, an inexhaustible passion to spend more time alone with the Lord.  When there is this passion all we want is more of God. Prayer is more than a duty, but a delight and a joy!  It is in these moments in prayer that the portion of Jeremiah 33: 3 becomes so real to us, “Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.”

I wonder, have you lost this passion for prayer?  Is there no longer in you a fervent spirit to cry out and spend time alone with the Lord?  I believe that if we are sincere, we have all been through our spiritual deserts, times when there is no momentum, there is no passion, there is no strong desire to go to prayer.  Even the disciples of Jesus experienced this, and were rebuked by Jesus in Matthew 26:40, “Then He came to the disciples and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, “What! Could you not watch with Me one hour?”

On this day if you have lost this passion in prayer, it is possible to regain it once more!  The first step is to have a deep desire to restore the passion that you once enjoyed.  To become that believer once again who can pray with passion and fire.  As a result of this our prayer will be effective and we will see results.  The Lord gives us a promise in Ephesians 3:20, “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.”  Let us pray that the Holy Spirit lights the flame in our hearts, that together we will be able to experience all that God has for our lives in 2021.

 Foundational Scriptures:

Romans 8:26 (NKJV) – 26 Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

Ephesians 3:20 (NKJV) – 20 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,

Jeremiah 33: 3 (NKJV) – 3 ‘Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’

Matthew 26:40 (NKJV) – 40 Then He came to the disciples and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, “What! Could you not watch with Me one hour?
