Thoughts of Devotion:
This morning it is important to recognize that worry and anxiety will never produce anything positive in our lives. Jesus said it very clearly in Matthew 6:27, “Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?” The solution is prayer, that is why the Apostle Paul mentions in this portion two types of prayers, prayer in general, which is based on divine promises, involving devotion or worship. The prayer of supplication, that it is in a moment that one makes a special request in times of personal need. This request is specific, and with an attitude of supplication!
When we find ourselves in moments full of anxiety and worry, it is there that we must raise our cry and pray to the Lord. We cannot be overcome by anxiety, which then surely will produce doubt, distrust, discouragement and frustration. On the contrary we must pray and cry taking our need before God. In Ephesians 6:18 he tells us, “praying alwayswithall prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints.” The key is knowing where to go when anxiety comes to our lives, we cannot remain paralyzed in fear or doubt! We must persevere in a continuous cry before God.
Prayer and our supplication before God undoubtedly dissipates and casts the anxiety that is upon our lives. The impossible situation that seems to rest like a cloud over us is removed by prayer! We will feel totally different, anxiety will not be able to dominate our day, because our cry to God will produce palpable results in us. Anxiety will not have free rein in our lives, but we will experience stillness in the depths of our being! Even if the situation or the dilemma is still present in our lives, anxiety and worry will not dominate us!
While our problem is being solved, we will trust that God is working all for our good, as Romans 8:28 tells us, “And we know thatall things work together for goodtothose who love God, to thosewho are the called according to His purpose.” We will not lose our firmness in God, but we will continue until we see victory in our lives.
