Thoughts of Devotion:

The Word of God tells us about the great blessing of being able to know God personally. What a great privilege we have today as believers of enjoying a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Being able to come near and spend time in his presence this morning, there is nothing that compares! There is nothing else that can give us the peace and security that Christ brings to our hearts. Trusting that he has our future in his hands, like scripture tells us in Psalms 9:10, “And those who know your name will put their trust in you; for You, Lord, have not forsaken those who seek you.”

God demonstrates to us in his Word that he desires for us to know him. Let us think about this for a moment, “God desires to spend time with me.” James 4:8 invites us, “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.” The invitation is made by God himself and personalized for each one of us. He desires to spend intimate and unique time with us daily. There are things that he desires to do and form in our lives. He knows beforehand that there will be difficult moments and sure opposition from the enemy in our future. In occasions it will not be easy to confront our day! It is for this reason that he desires that we spend time with Him.

It is in His presence that we will find the strength and power to continue moving forward confidently. As the prophet Daniel assures us, “But the people who know their God shall be strong, and carry out great exploits.” (11:32, NKJV). On this day, have the assurance that God is with you! In intimacy with Him is where we will find everything that we need. Communion with God is what makes the difference between faith and doubt, between victory and defeat, between taking action or drowning in the same situation.

Let us pray this morning that we would never stop being The People of God that is strengthened and acts based upon our relationship with Him. Today is the time to act and fulfill the will of God in our lives. He goes before us to give us the victory!

Foundational Scriptures:

Jeremiah 31:34 (NKJV) — 34 No more shall every man teach his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for they all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them, says the Lord. For I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more.”

John 17:3 (NKJV) — 3 And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.

1 Chronicles 28:9 (NKJV) — 9 As for you, my son Solomon, know the God of your father, and serve Him with a loyal heart and with a willing mind; for the Lord searches all hearts and understands all the intent of the thoughts. If you seek Him, He will be found by you; but if you forsake Him, He will cast you off forever.

Psalms 46:1 (NKJV) — 1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
