90 Day Challenge – Day 5

God Has Broken Through My Enemies

Theme: The God Who Breaks Barriers In Our Lives!

So they went up to Baal Perazim, and David defeated them there. Then David said, “God has broken through my enemies by my hand like a breakthrough of water.” Therefore they called the name of that place Baal Perazim.

1 Chronicles 14:11 (NKJV)

Daily Reading Plan

Matthew 14-15

Bible Versions:

1 Chronicles 14:11 (NIV) – 11 So David and his men went up to Baal Perazim, and there he defeated them. He said, “As waters break out, God has broken out against my enemies by my hand.” So that place was called Baal Perazim.

1 Chronicles 14:11 (NLT) – 11 So David and his troops went up to Baal-perazim and defeated the Philistines there. “God did it!” David exclaimed. “He used me to burst through my enemies like a raging flood!” So they named that place Baal-perazim (which means “the Lord who bursts through”).

1 Chronicles 14:11 (MSG) – 11 David attacked at Baal Perazim and slaughtered them. David said, “God exploded my enemies, as water explodes from a burst pipe.” That’s how the place got its name, Baal Perazim (Baal-Explosion).

Thoughts of Devotion:

We serve a God who breaks and destroys the barriers against us. For him there is no wall that cannot be broken. Through history, He has always been faithful to his servants, to those who seek his help and direction! David experienced a great victory when he decided to consult God. We read in the previous verse, in 1 Chronicles 14: 10 that tells us, “And David inquired of God, saying, “Shall I go up against the Philistines? Will You deliver them into my hand?” The Lord said to him, “Go up, for I will deliver them into your hand.”

In this portion of the Scriptures God reveals himself as “Baal-perazim: The Lord of the  breakthrough” God broke through, he opened the gap and broke the enemies who opposed David. The key to this victory was that David consulted Jehovah, he sought the divine strategy to see a breakage in his dilemma and difficulty. The barriers always have fallen and David triumphed over his enemies, every time he consulted, he received God’s advice. We read in 1 Chronicles 14:14 how God gives him the divine and detailed strategy to experience the brokenness of his enemies, “Therefore David inquired again of God, and God said to him, “You shall not go up after them; circle around them, and come upon them in front of the mulberry trees.”

Today we can meet a God who will break the barriers in our lives. These 90 days we can call to see the walls fall if we put into work the tools that God has given us. Only with His help and advice will we experience total victory over every challenge we face. In Psalm 144: 1 he tells us, “Blessed be the Lord my Rock, Who trains my hands for war, And my fingers for battle.” Today through prayer allow the Holy Spirit to train your hands and fingers to get the victory in these 90 days of challenge. With God by your side there is no battle that you will lose, you will be victorious through the divine strategy of the Holy Spirit!
