Thoughts of Devotion:
As we study the ministry of Jesus we will find that he was always interested in the needs of the people. Continuously we are able to see how He would minister and meet the urgent needs of the people. Everyone knew that if someone could help then in their hour of need it was Jesus! Matthew 4:24 tells us that Jesus had a great reputation of meeting the needs of those that would draw near to him, “Then His fame went throughout all Syria; and they brought to Him all sick people who were afflicted with various diseases and torments, and those who were demon-possessed, epileptics, and paralytics; and He healed them.”
Once again Jesus raising his eyes was able to see the great multitude that was in need of being fed. His eyes of compassion and love were able to sense the hunger that they had. It was under that compassion that Jesus was moved to work a miracle of provision, as Mark 6:34 tells us, “And Jesus, when He came out, saw a great multitude and was moved with compassion for them, because they were like sheep not having a shepherd. So He began to teach them many things.” Thank God that we have a God that when he looks to this world, he sees each one of our needs. He is never absent of our difficult or impossible situation!
You and I are always in The Lords mind! He is continually thinking about how to feed us, about how to be our provider in the midst of a world that’s submerged in so much need. Let’s recognize that there is no need or insufficiency that The Lord may not be able or even desire to meet. I ask you, what is your need today? Can you trust and believe that The Lord will be your provider? The Lord is interested in meeting our most basic needs like food, housing, clothing, and any other need or lack that we may have. We live with the promise in Philippians 4:19, He will take care of us “And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”
Numbers 11:13 (NKJV) — 13 Where am I to get meat to give to all these people? For they weep all over me, saying, ‘Give us meat, that we may eat.’
Matthew 15:33 (NKJV) — 33 Then His disciples said to Him, “Where could we get enough bread in the wilderness to fill such a great multitude?”
Luke 9:13 (NKJV) — 13 But He said to them, “You give them something to eat.” And they said, “We have no more than five loaves and two fish, unless we go and buy food for all these people.”
John 4:35 (NKJV) — 35 Do you not say, ‘There are still four months and then comes the harvest’? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest!
Matthew 14:14 (NKJV) — 14 And when Jesus went out He saw a great multitude; and He was moved with compassion for them, and healed their sick.
Mark 6:34 (NKJV) — 34 And Jesus, when He came out, saw a great multitude and was moved with compassion for them, because they were like sheep not having a shepherd. So He began to teach them many things.
