Say to them: ‘As I live,’ says the Lord God, ‘I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live. Turn, turn from your evil ways! For why should you die, O house of Israel?’
Ezekiel 33:11 (NKJV)

Thoughts of Devotion:
In this morning God wants to give us a new life, a life in abundance and blessing. He doesn’t want to bring judgment, he’s not pleased to see evil come upon our lives. It is for this reason that he calls us to repentance, to return once more to Him! To reconcile again to enjoy his presence, his communion with us. What an encouraging message! God does not want death; He always wants repentance. In Ezekiel 18: 31–32 he tells us, “Cast away from you all the transgressions which you have committed, and get yourselves a new heart and a new spirit. For why should you die, O house of Israel? 32 For I have no pleasure in the death of one who dies,” says the Lord God. “Therefore turn and live!”
Today there is still the opportunity to return to God and be restored. This is available to everyone, including those who are living in their wickedness! The mercy of God reaches to the lowest, to the one that perhaps in our eyes is unattainable. Repentance and contrition of heart will change our destiny, our future, it will certainly bring blessing and prosperity in our lives. In Acts 3:19 the Lord promises us times of spiritual refreshment and healing, “Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord.”
The message this morning is one of hope for those that are living far from God. But hope is only found when we turn from our wickedness and no longer ignore it. Because, although God is merciful and slow to anger, he is also a righteous God! The decision is ours, the road is already set. All we have to do is implore the mercy and favor of God. In Daniel 9:13 he tells us, “As it is written in the Law of Moses, all this disaster has come upon us; yet we have not made our prayer before the Lord our God, that we might turn from our iniquities and understand Your truth.” Take the invitation, change your destiny, the Lord awaits you with open arms!
