Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord
Hebrews 12:14 (NKJV)
Bible Reading Plan
Hebrews 12:14 (NTV) — Work at living in peace with everyone, and work at living a holy life, for those who are not holy will not see the Lord.
This morning you and I are called to be imitators of God. The Bible exhorts us to be passionate, and strive to live a consecrated and holy life. One of the characteristics that mostly stand out from God’s attributes is holiness. He is a God that is declared three times holy in Revelations 4:8, “And they do not rest day or night, saying: “Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty”. For this reason our lives must reflect God’s holiness in our way of living. We must be different from this world! We cannot blend with the sinful lifestyle that we see in today’s society.
What does it mean to be holy? Holiness means, “maintain total devotion and dedication to God, set aside for His special use, and separated from sin and its influence” (BDV, Notes). We belong to God and our devotion and dedication is totally for God. He saved us and took us out of a sinful life so that we may live a life consecrated unto Him. God has set us apart and consecrated us with the purpose of using us for a special task. We belong to Him exclusively for the use of His service. This morning we must set ourselves aside as 2 Corinthians 6:17 says, “Therefore, Come out from among them And be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean….”.
Let us ask The Lord this morning to ignite a passion to live a consecrated and holy life unto Him. That in he midst of our world and society we may live pleasing lives unto God. Let us pray that through the help of the Holy Spirit we may live lives that reflect God’s holiness. Understand that holiness cannot be acquired and reflected without the help and strength of His Spirit. We need the help of The Holy Spirit now more than ever! Through His work in our lives we will demonstrate a passion for holy living.
Mateo 5:8 (NKJV) — Blessed are the pure in heart, For they shall see God.
Romans 6:22 (NKJV) — But now having been set free from sin, and having become slaves of God, you have your fruit to holiness, and the end, everlasting life.
2 Corinthians 7:1 (NKJV) — Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
2 Corinthians 6:17 (NKJV) — Therefore “Come out from among them And be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, And I will receive you.”
1 Thessalonians 3:13 (NKJV) — so that He may establish your hearts blameless in holiness before our God and Father at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all His saints.
3 John 11 (NKJV) — Beloved, do not imitate what is evil, but what is good. He who does good is of God, but he who does evil has not seen God.
