Topic: Our Greatest Victories Will BeIn The Valley.
So the priest said, “The sword of Goliath the Philistine, whom you killed in the Valley of Elah, there it is, wrapped in a cloth behind the ephod. If you will take that, take it. For there is no other except that one here.” And David said, “There is none like it; give it to me.”

1 Samuel 21:9 (NIV) ─ 9 The priest replied, “The sword of Goliath the Philistine, whom you killed in the Valley of Elah, is here; it is wrapped in a cloth behind the ephod. If you want it, take it; there is no sword here but that one.”David said, “There is none like it; give it to me.”
1 Samuel 21:9 (NLT) ─ 9 “I only have the sword of Goliath the Philistine, whom you killed in the valley of Elah,” the priest replied. “It is wrapped in a cloth behind the ephod. Take that if you want it, for there is nothing else here.” “There is nothing like it!” David replied. “Give it to me!”
The Bible teaches us that David won his biggest victory in the valley of Elah. It was there that God showed his power, defeating the giant Goliath! In 1 Samuel 17:51 says, ” Therefore David ran and stood over the Philistine, took his sword and drew it out of its sheath and killed him, and cut off his head with it. And when the Philistines saw that their champion was dead, they fled.” What big victory this was for the people of Israel, a statement to their enemies that God could save Israel with a strong arm.
It was in the Valley of Elah, in front of all the Philistines, that the people of Israel were continually threatened by the giant Goliath. Daily, he challenged and threatened the army of Israel saying “Why have you come out to line up for battle? Am I not a Philistine, and you the servants of Saul? Choose a man for yourselves, and let him come down to me.” (1 Samuel 17:8) It was not until David took his place and the strength of God defeated the giant. We see that he was not frightened or weakened at the sight of opposition! On the contrary, with a sling and stone he defeated the giant. The enemy was embarrassed in the valley. What shame and defeat for Goliath!
Today there are many of us that are in our valley of Elah, fighting our Goliath! The enemy is continually threatening our lives with his lies and deceit. But as David took the sword and cut off the head of the giant, we must take the sword of the Spirit and defeat the giants that challenge us. Scripture tells us in Ephesians 6:17, “And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” God’s Word has the power in the midst of our spiritual valley, no matter how difficult our situation! God will give us the victory through our valley.
1 Samuel 17:51 (NKJV) ─ 51 Therefore David ran and stood over the Philistine, took his sword and drew it out of its sheath and killed him, and cut off his head with it. And when the Philistines saw that their champion was dead, they fled.
1 Samuel 17:2 (NKJV) ─ 2 And Saul and the men of Israel were gathered together, and they encamped in the Valley of Elah, and drew up in battle array against the Philistines.
1 Samuel 17:4 (NKJV) ─4 And a champion went out from the camp of the Philistines, named Goliath, from Gath, whose height was six cubits and a span.
Hebrews 4:12 (NKJV) ─12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
1 Samuel 17:50 (NKJV) ─ 50 So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and a stone, and struck the Philistine and killed him. But there was no sword in the hand of David.
