Thoughts of Devotion:

If we are going to overcome temptations, we must understand very clearly who is behind each one of them. It is very clear that temptations come disguised in different ways and situations. But it is also very clear that the one behind all temptation is the enemy with his lie and deception. This has been from the beginning, we read in John 8:44 how Jesus spoke of this when he referred to those who opposed him, “You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.”

Today we are going to face different temptations, but let’s not forget that behind them is the devil with his cunning to try to deceive us. The Apostle Paul gave a serious warning to the believers in 2 Corinthians 11: 3 when he said, “But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.” It will be necessary to have spiritual discernment when confronting the temptations in our lives, we must have a perspective of being able to see beyond what the natural eye sees, and look at the forces of the enemy at work!

The enemy is continually working to let us fall into his lies and deceptions. This task of deceiving and causing men and women to fall into temptation has taken place from the beginning of creation. It was there that he destroyed the paradise where Adam and Eve lived in sweet communion with God. And his deceptive work will surely continue until the day he is cast out, as Revelation 12: 9 tells us, “So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.”

This morning, recognize that your temptation and trial goes beyond what your natural eyes see. The battle that your fights will be in the spiritual through the power of the Holy Spirit. You and I are not victims of circumstances, we do not have to fall, on the contrary, we are victors in Christ Jesus.
