Stand At My Guardpost

Topic: We must be alert and watch in prayer to be able to hear the plans of God for 2019.

I will stand my watch And set myself on the rampart, And watch to see what He will say to me, And what I will answer when I am corrected.

Habakkuk 2: 1 (NKJV)

Daily Reading Plan

To Read All The Bible In The Year 2019

Genesis 28-30

Bible Versions:

Habakkuk 2: 1 (NLT) – 1 I will climb up to my watchtower and stand at my guardpost. There I will wait to see what the Lord says and how he will answer my complaint.

Habakkuk 2: 1 (NIV) – 1 II will stand at my watch and station myself on the ramparts; I will look to see what he will say to me, and what answer I am to give to this complaint.

Habakkuk 2: 1 (MSG) – What’s God going to say to my questions? I’m braced for the worst. I’ll climb to the lookout tower and scan the horizon. I’ll wait to see what God says, how he’ll answer my complaint.

Thoughts of Devotion:

The prophet Habakkuk knew the secret of how to receive the revelation of God concerning the situation he was facing. He was alert, firm and determined to listen to what God had to say, attentive to the divine plans he needed in order to face his dilemma! He was not going to be moved, he did not allow discouragement, or doubt to move him from being vigilante on his post. In 1 Corinthians 16:13 we read, “Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong.” This was exactly what the Prophet Habakkuk did, and as a result he received a clear vision for his future.

After having persisted and watched in prayer, God answered the prophet! In Habakkuk 2: 2 he tells us, “Then the Lord answered me and said: “Write the vision And make it plain on tablets, That he may run who reads it.” His perseverance was rewarded, his cry and tears, and nights of vigil bore fruit, it was not in vain! Now Habakkuk had a clear and written vision of what God wanted to do with him and his people. There was no longer any doubt and fear as a result of the crisis that the people of God lived, Habakkuk had prayed, persevered! And God did not fail him, He came to his aid.

In this morning we can do the same, today we can receive the vision of God for 2019! All we have to do is take a position of prayer, intercession and tenacity until the moment the Holy Spirit reveals to us his plans and divine will. Psalm 5: 2-3 gives us a model of this prayer, “Give heed to the voice of my cry, My King and my God, For to You I will pray. My voice You shall hear in the morning, O Lord; In the morning I will direct it to You, And I will look up.” This must be our prayer, our cry every morning, and we must be able to wait as long as it is necessary in his presence! Amen.
