Amend Your Ways

Topic: There Is Still Another Opportunity From God.

13 Now therefore, amend your ways and your doings, and obey the voice of the Lord your God; then the Lord will relent concerning the doom that He has pronounced against you.

 Jeremiah 26:13 (NKJV)

Daily Reading Plan

Genesis 21-23

Bible Versions:

Jeremiah 26:13 Version (NIV) ― 13 Now reform your ways and your actions and obey the Lord your God. Then the Lord will relent and not bring the disaster he has pronounced against you.

Jeremiah 26:13 (NLT) ― 13 But if you stop your sinning and begin to obey the Lord your God, he will change his mind about this disaster that he has announced against you.

Jeremiah 26:13 (MSG) — 13 Change the way you’re living, change your behavior. Listen obediently to the Message of your God. Maybe God will reconsider the disaster he has threatened.

Thoughts Of Devotion:

God calls us this morning to make a decision, He gives us the way to attaining a transformation and change of our future. Our life doesn’t have to go from bad to worse, there is hope! The Lord calls us saying, If you want to see a glorious future then you have to stop doing evil. He promises in Isaiah 55:7 mercy and forgiveness, “Let the wicked forsake his way, And the unrighteous man his thoughts; Let him return to the Lord, And He will have mercy on him; And to our God, For He will abundantly pardon.”

In this portion, the people of Israel had turned away from the Lord, their behavior and actions were offending God. Time after time, the Lord called them to a sincere and genuine repentance. God wanted to bless them, but could not do it if they continued in their wicked ways. Continuously the warnings were sent to them as Jeremiah 35:15 declares, ” I have also sent to you all My servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them, saying, ‘Turn now everyone from his evil way, amend your doings, and do not go after other gods to serve them; then you will dwell in the land which I have given you and your fathers.’ But you have not inclined your ear, nor obeyed Me.”

Today the Lord gives us another chance to repent. He does not want our life to end in ruin, on the contrary his love and mercy calls us every day. His plans are not to destroy us, on the contrary, He wishes that we may be restored. Ezekiel 33:11 says, ” Say to them: ‘As I live,’ says the Lord God, ‘I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live. Turn, turn from your evil ways! For why should you die, O house of Israel?” The Lord’s invitation is that we get back and put our lives in order. Pray that our lives are pleasing to God, that our hearts obey him in everything, only then we will see a future that is prosperous and full of his blessing!

Foundational Scriptures:

Jeremiah 7:3 Version (NKJV) ― Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: “Amend your ways and your doings, and I will cause you to dwell in this place.

Jeremiah 18:8 (NKJV) ― if that nation against whom I have spoken turns from its evil, I will relent of the disaster that I thought to bring upon it.

Jeremiah 35:15 (NKJV) ― 15 I have also sent to you all My servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them, saying, ‘Turn now everyone from his evil way, amend your doings, and do not go after other gods to serve them; then you will dwell in the land which I have given you and your fathers.’ But you have not inclined your ear, nor obeyed Me.

Isaiah 55:7 (NKJV) ― Let the wicked forsake his way, And the unrighteous man his thoughts; Let him return to the Lord, And He will have mercy on him; And to our God, For He will abundantly pardon.

Ezekiel 33:11 (NKJV) ― 11 Say to them: ‘As I live,’ says the Lord God, ‘I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live. Turn, turn from your evil ways! For why should you die, O house of Israel?’

  1. Amen! We must repent! Not only because of the consequence we will face in the end, but because we feel personally convicted to do so!
