Topic: Patience Is Needed To See The Fulfillment Of A Vision.
Then the Lord answered me and said: “Write the vision And make it plain on tablets, That he may run who reads it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come, It will not tarry.
Habakkuk 2:2, 3 (NKJV)
For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise:
Hebrews 10:36 (NKJV)
The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, To the soul who seeks Him. It is good that one should hope and wait quietly For the salvation of the Lord .
Lamentations 3:25-26 (NKJV)
Bible In A Year Reading Plan For 2019
Habakkuk 2:2–3 (MSG) — And then God answered: “Write this. Write what you see. Write it out in big block letters so that it can be read on the run. This vision-message is a witness pointing to what’s coming. It aches for the coming—it can hardly wait! And it doesn’t lie. If it seems slow in coming, wait. It’s on its way. It will come right on time.
Lamentations 3:25–26 (NIV) — The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him; it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord .
Hebrews 10:36 (NLT) — Patient endurance is what you need now, so that you will continue to do God’s will. Then you will receive all that he has promised.
Scripture teaches us the importance of waiting on God when we don’t see the vision being fulfilled in our lives. Something about vision, is that it tends to always be futuristic and in general we don’t see it’s fulfillment for a period of time. The prophet Habakkuk went through this when his situation wouldn’t change and it seemed as if The Lord would not intervene. This period of time was very difficult for Habakkuk, his plead was continually before God, saying, “O Lord , how long shall I cry, And You will not hear? Even cry out to You, “Violence!” And You will not save” (Habakkuk 1:2).
Just as the prophet Habakkuk, in the same way we sometimes don’t see the fulfillment of the vision in our lives. My question is, what attitude do we take when the fulfillment of the vision tarries? What do we do with the vision He has given us? There is only one right thing to do! The Bible calls us to wait on God. Personally I believe this to be one of the most difficult things to do while in the process of the fulfillment of the vision. During this time we cannot do much, only wait and trust that the promises of God will be fulfilled in due time, not on our clock.
Let us pray this morning that we may have the fruit of the Holy Spirit, the supernatural patience that is necesary to wait on God. As Psalms 27:14 says, “Wait on the Lord ; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the Lord !” Let’s remember that in God there are no delays, everything is perfect in its time! The vision God has given for our lives shall come to pass. God is not a man to lie. He is always faithful, He will be faithful to us. The challenge this morning is to wait upon God. Let’s not move from our position, this is what Habakkuk did, “I will stand my watch And set myself on the rampart, And watch to see what He will say to me, And what I will answer when I am corrected” (2:1). Do not hesitate, do not move, surely the fulfillment of the the vision will come to pass.
Hebrews 10:36 (NKJV) — For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise.
Hebrews 10:38 (NKJV) — Now the just shall live by faith; But if anyone draws back, My soul has no pleasure in him.”
James 5:7 (NKJV) — Therefore be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, waiting patiently for it until it receives the early and latter rain.
2 Peter 3:9 (NKJV) — The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.
Psalms 27:14 (NKJV) — Wait on the Lord ; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the Lord !
Psalms 130:5–6 (NKJV) — I wait for the Lord , my soul waits, And in His word I do hope. My soul waits for the Lord More than those who watch for the morning— Yes, more than those who watch for the morning.
