Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent and do the first works, or else I will come to you quickly and remove your lampstand from its place—unless you repent.

Thoughts of Devotion:
When you make the decision to return once again to your first love, it is necessary to do the first works, the most essential things in Christian life! Things that are basic, simple, but very important. Today and tomorrow in these devotionals I will be sharing a list of ten things we must do, and maintain in our spiritual walk if we want to preserve the fire and passion of our first love…
First of all, we can never forget all that God has done for us. This is so important, because many times, we suffer from short memory! We forget very easily the work of God in us, his correction as well as his blessings. As Deuteronomy 8: 2 tells us, “And you shall remember that the Lord your God led you all the way these forty years in the wilderness, to humble you and test you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep His commandments or not.”
Second, we must keep a grateful heart, in other words, remain grateful despite the conditions we are facing. Let us give thanks for the eternal, things of value that do not perish, for example our salvation! 1 Thessalonians 5:18 in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
Third, it will be necessary to live our life prostrated before the Lord. Walking in humility, allowing to be broken in his presence, not allowing pride and arrogance to dominate us. James 4: 6-7, “But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: “God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.” 7 Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.
Fourth, in the Christian life discipline is required, a spiritual regime! We are soldiers, we are part of God’s army. We cannot live lightly, day by day, just leading the life calm and without commitment. It requires a number of spiritual disciplines such as prayer, reading the Bible, devotional life, fasting, etc. 2 Timothy 2: 4-5 (NKJV) – 4No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him as a soldier. 5 And also if anyone competes in athletics, he is not crowned unless he competes according to the rules.
Fifth, Attendance to church faithfully, not forsaking the assembling! It will be necessary to put the attendance to the services, life groups, prayer meetings, etc. as a priority if we are going to keep the fire going. Hebrews 10:25 (NKJV) – 25 not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.
Pray that the Holy Spirit will light that fuse, the fire, the passion for God that burns like never before in our hearts!
Let’s enter this year 2019 wrapped in his glory, saturated with his presence, madly in love with God. Amen!
Tomorrow we continue with the list …
Revelation 2: 2 (NKJV) – 2 “I know your works, your labor, your patience, and that you cannot bear those who are evil. And you have tested those who say they are apostles and are not, and have found them liars;
Revelation 2:19 (NKJV) – 19 I know your works, love, service, faith, and your patience; and as for your works, the last are more than the first.
Revelation 14:13 (NKJV) – 13 Then I heard a voice from heaven saying to me, “Write: ‘Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.’ ”
Revelation 3:15 (NKJV) – 15 I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot.
Revelation 3: 2 (NKJV) – 2 Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die, for I have not found your works perfect before God.
Revelation 3: 1 (NKJV) – 1 And to the angel of the church in Sardis write, ‘These things says He who has the seven Spirits of God and the seven stars: “I know your works, that you have a name that you are alive, but you are dead.
