Thoughts of Devotion:
As we come near to enjoy a time of prayer and communion with the Lord, it is important to enter his presence expressing our worship and praise towards Him. Lifting his name high, as Psalms 100:4 declares, “Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.” Before we raise any need, or petition it is necessary to take time to express our worship, reverencing his name, giving Him all the honor, prestige, and love of which only He is worthy. Giving him the highest place that he deserves, all the glory and honor be to his name!
As we enter in his presence with our worship, glory and honor that he is deserves, it allows us for a moment to take away, and remove our attention from ourselves, of our own need, of our present situation, to place all our attention exclusively on God! Expressing with our own lips how much we love him, declaring his great works, words that only come from a grateful heart, for all that he has done for us. The book of Hebrews says it clearly, “Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit ofourlips, giving thanks to His name.” (13:15).
The result of practicing worship in our devotional time with the Lord, will be that his glory will fill our lives! The Lord has promised us in his Word that he inhabits the praises of his people, “But You areholy, Enthroned in the praises of Israel.” (Psalms 22:3). His presence will surely descend, and with no doubt we will experience a beautiful communion in the Lord in the secret place. Let’s make the decision today, in our heart to not only make our time of prayer a time of petition, a time of only asking God for things, but let’s make it a priority to fill his throne with worship.
Psalms 22:3 (NKJV) — 3 But You are holy, Enthroned in the praises of Israel.
Psalms 22:22 (NKJV) — 22 I will declare Your name to My brethren; In the midst of the assembly I will praise You.
Hebrews 13:15 (NKJV) — 15 Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name.
2 Chronicles 5:13–14 (NKJV) — 13 indeed it came to pass, when the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the Lord, and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of music, and praised the Lord, saying: “For He is good, For His mercy endures forever, “that the house, the house of the Lord, was filled with a cloud, 14 so that the priests could not continue ministering because of the cloud; for the glory of the Lord filled the house of God.”
