90 Day Bible Reading Plan
1 Chronicles 23:30 (NLT) — 30 And each morning and evening they stood before the LORD to sing songs of thanks and praise to him.
1 Chronicles 23:30 (The Message) — 30 Also they were to be present for morning prayers, thanking and praising GOD, for evening prayers,
1 Chronicles 23:30 (NIV) — 30 They were also to stand every morning to thank and praise the LORD. They were to do the same in the evening
In this portion of the Scriptures we find King David giving instructions for worship in the temple. For it was very important that worship, praise, and thanksgiving were always offered to God in his temple. In 1 Chronicles 23:24 we read the instructions for the Levites, and their responsibility in ministering daily, “These were the sons of Levi by their fathers’ houses—the heads of the fathers’ houses as they were counted individually by the number of their names, who did the work for the service of the house of the LORD, from the age of twenty years and above..”
The responsibility of the Levites was to present themselves in the temple daily in the morning and in the evening to raise thanksgiving to the Lord. They had to raise songs of thanksgiving to the Lord, this was their sacred ministry! And for King David it was very important to maintain the posture of thanksgiving before God, and never cease to give thanks for his faithfulness and mercy! In Psalm 92: 1-2 we see an example as through song we can express our gratitude, “It is good to give thanks to the LORD, And to sing praises to Your name, O Most High; To declare Your lovingkindness in the morning, And Your faithfulness every night, “
Today we must follow this same example of praise and worship. May we always offer sacrifice of praise, as Hebrews 13:15 tells us, “Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name.” We must never stop expressing our thanksgiving with songs of adoration and praise. May each morning, evening and night our voice be raised in gratitude to God. Let us pray that our life will be marked by gratitude. Let’s never stay quiet, but on the contrary les us raise our voices declaring that God is good, and His mercy is new every morning!
2 Chronicles 31:2 (NKJV) — 2 And Hezekiah appointed the divisions of the priests and the Levites according to their divisions, each man according to his service, the priests and Levites for burnt offerings and peace offerings, to serve, to give thanks, and to praise in the gates of the camp of the LORD.
Ezra 3:10–11 (NKJV) — 10 When the builders laid the foundation of the temple of the LORD, the priests stood in their apparel with trumpets, and the Levites, the sons of Asaph, with cymbals, to praise the LORD, according to the ordinance of David king of Israel. 11 And they sang responsively, praising and giving thanks to the LORD: “For He is good, For His mercy endures forever toward Israel.” Then all the people shouted with a great shout, when they praised the LORD, because the foundation of the house of the LORD was laid.
