 Bringing Every Thought Into Captivity

Tuesday, April 17

Topic: God Has Given Us Authority Over Our Thoughts.

For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,

2 Corinthians 10:4-5 (NKJV)

Daily Reading Plan

1 Kings 10-11

Bible Versions:

2 Corinthians 10:4-5 (NLT) — We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments. We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ.

Thoughts Of Devotion:

It’s true that the mind is a battlefield; our mind is constantly under attack from the enemy! If there is anything that the enemy will surely assault, it is our thoughts. He is clever and knows that if he is able invade our thoughts, then it is possible to weaken our spiritual life. We must remember what 2 Corinthians 2:11 says, “lest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices.” We cannot for a moment allow the enemy to take advantage of us in this intense battle for our minds. We need to be vigilant in protecting our mind from his assaults.

We are called to destroy the strongholds that the enemy wants to bring against us. The way we win, is taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ. Only then we will not be dominated by them! The Word of God is the most powerful weapon we have against all enemy attacks. It’s a double-edged sword that knocks down every negative thought! Hebrews 4:12 tells us, “For the word of God isliving and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”

Thank God we now have powerful weapons, spiritual weapons that have the power to destroy all the darts of the enemy. We are believers with spiritual authority. Remember the promise of 1 John 4: 4, “You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.” Our victory is assured in Christ Jesus when we exercise our spiritual authority. This morning don’t let yourself be dominated by thoughts that the enemy will throw in your mind. On the contrary, fill yourself of the Word of God and surly you will experience a transformation in your life.

Hebrews 4:12 (NKJV) — 12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
