Bible Versions:

Acts 2:21 (MSG) — 21 Y And whoever calls out for help to me, God, will be saved.”

Thoughts of Devotion:

The last days that are described in the prophecy by the prophet Joel will be times of great salvation. During this period of history, salvation will be something accessible to all humanity. Many will come to the know eternal salvation through Jesus Christ. The way to eternal life will be available to all who calls on the name of the Lord. In Romans 10:9-10 it tells us, “that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”

It is very clear that there is only salvation in one name, only in Jesus! Apart from him there is no salvation, he is the only way to heaven. Salvation is found exclusively in the person of Jesus Christ. He who died and rose again for our sins. In Acts 4:12 it tells us that, “Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” Calling on the name of the Lord is an expression that includes everything that the Lord is. Calling upon on his name is recognizing  him as the true object of faith and the only way to salvation.

Today salvation is for all of us, our future is secure in Christ Jesus! There is no reason why we should fear coming judgements on this earth. The Lord will deliver us from terrible days that overcome humanity. This morning we have the confidence that everything is in his hands. That if we believe in the Lord we will be saved, and not only for us but the promise of salvation will reach our family if they accept Jesus as their personal Savior. In Acts 16:31 it tells us, “So they said, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.” The Lord calls us to testify of him, we must proclaim in the name of Jesus and let the world know that only in him is there salvation.

Foundational Scriptures:

Romans 10:9-13 (NKJV) – 9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.”12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him.13 For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

Acts 16:31 (NKJV) – 31 So they said, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.”

Psalm 86:5 (NKJV) – 5  For You, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive, And abundant in mercy to all those who call upon You.

1 Corinthians 1:2 (NKJV) – 2 To the church of God which is at Corinth, to those who are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to besaints, with all who in every place call on the name of Jesus Christour Lord, both theirs and ours:

Matthew 21:9 (NKJV) – 9 Then the multitudes who went before and those who followed cried out, saying: “Hosanna to the Son of David! ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!” Hosanna in the highest!”

James 5:14 (NKJV) – 14 Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.

1 Corinthians 1:2 (NKJV) – 2 To the church of God which is at Corinth, to those who are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to besaints, with all who in every place call on the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours:

Acts 4:12 (NKJV) – 12 Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”
