And Jesus said to him, “Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.”
(Luke 23:43 NKJV)
Daily Reading Plan
1 Samuel 1-3
Versiones De La Biblia:
Luke 23:43 (NIV) — Jesus answered him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.”
Luke 23:43 (MSG) — He said, “Don’t worry, I will. Today you will join me in paradise.”
Luke 23:43 (NLT) — And Jesus replied, “I assure you, today you will be with me in paradise.”
The Bible teaches us that Jesus was crucified between two thieves, the Gospel of Luke tells us, ” There were also two others, criminals, led with Him to be put to death.” (v32). One of them, as he saw Jesus nailed on the cross he begged saying, “remember me when you come into your kingdom” (v.42). This thief believed in Jesus in the last moments of his life. When others mocked and cursed our Savior, he believed in Him! His faith stood out amid all disbelief and doubt. He was able to see the great sacrifice that Jesus made on the cross, being innocent and blameless.
As a result of this Jesus makes a promise to the thief on the cross, today you will be with me in paradise. What a promise, so beautiful and gorgeous! In the darkest moments in human history, there’s a light of hope and love. In the midst of pain and suffering, the criminal is promised eternal paradise. Through Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross he offers eternal life, all by the fact that the thief believed! All the evil and sin that he had committed in his life was spared in a moment beside the cross. Praise God for the love and mercy of God!
This morning Jesus made the same promise to us. The Gospel of John tells us, “And if I go, I will prepare a place, I will come again, and receive you unto myself, that where I am, there you may be also.” (John 14:3) What a blessing to have an eternal dwelling place with Jesus. The day will come when He will return for us, wherever He is, we will be with Him. Pray this morning that we always have a grateful heart to God for his love and mercy towards us. Today we enjoy a new life only through what He did for us on the cross of Calvary.Thank you Lord for the Cross!
