Thoughts of Devotion:
This morning we see how the blessing followed Joseph’s life. Wherever Joseph was, God’s blessing upon him. Even in unpleasant moments, as a slave in Potiphar’s house, or when he was in jail, the favor of God always rested upon Him! God prospered him in all things. Genesis 39:2-3 tells us, “The Lord was with Joseph, and he was a successful man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian. And his master saw that the Lord was with him and that the Lord made all he did to prosper in his hand.”
We see in Joseph that even the very difficult, hard and unpleasant situations never determined the blessing of God upon his life. On the contrary, the blessings outweighed the trials surrounding Joseph. He was a source of blessing! In every place, God’s blessings flowed for his life. More than just having the blessing of God, Joseph was the blessed of the Lord. Joseph was called to inherit the blessing that the Lord had spoken about his life, and no one was going to change this! As difficult as his life got, Joseph responded with blessing. As it says in Peter 3:9, “not returning evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary blessing, knowing that you were called to this, that you may inherit a blessing.”
Today we can experience God’s blessing despite the things around us. We must remember that the blessing always rests on the person, not the circumstances around us! In the midst of a crisis, storm, or difficult situation one can experience the superabundant blessing. Within us the Lord has placed the seed of blessing as it is declared in Isaiah 65:23, “They shall not labor in vain, Nor bring forth children for trouble; For they shall be the descendants of the blessed of the Lord, And their offspring with them.” We were called to live under the blessing of God. We were chosen by God to live not only a life, but a life in abundance! Amen.
