The Need to Pray Always

Jesus also told them a parable about the need to pray always, and not faint,

Luke 18: 1 (NKJV)

Topic: We Must Persist in Prayer, Never Faint!

Plan to Read the Entire Bible in 2018

Deuteronomy 29-31

Bible Versions:

Luke 18:1 (NLT) – 1 One day, Jesus told a story to his disciples to show them that they should always pray and never give up.

Luke 18:1 (MSG) – 1 Jesus told them a parable to teach them that they should pray under any circumstance, without ever losing heart.

Luke 18:1 (NIV) – Then Jesus told them a story to teach them that they should always pray and never lose hope.

Thoughts of Devotion:

This morning it is important to remember that persistent prayer has a great reward. Never doubt that there is a reward for those who do not faint in their persistence, in their consistency in prayer. We see this example in the widow of this story, the Scripture shows us that she continually came before the unjust judge presenting her need and as a result she received what she requested. We read this from the unjust judge in Luke 18: 4-5, “And he did not want it for some time; but after this he said within himself: Though I neither fear God, nor respect man, however, because this widow is annoying me, I will do her justice, lest by continual coming, my patience be exhausted.”

Imagine what God would do for us as his children, if we did not stop praying and crying out before his presence. Surely he will answer our request, if we do not lose heart! This is what Luke 18: 7-8 tells us, “and will God not do justice to His chosen ones, who cry out to Him day and night? Will it take to answer them? I tell you, he will soon do them justice. But when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?” I think sometimes we give up very quickly, we abandon the persistence in prayer! And as a result we do not see our prayers answered.

Today I encourage you not to give up on your need before God. Rest assured, God heard and is attentive to your cry in His presence! Just keep crying out, interceding with the Father in the name of Jesus and no doubt God will work in your situation. The Scripture says that, the widow soon received her response as a result of her perseverance, “I tell you that soon he will do them justice. But when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth? (Luke 18: 8) The key is to just stay, persist, and keep on crying, even if you do not see the results! In your cry and firmness before the throne of God, he will work and soon you will see his hand and his response to your request.
