Daily Reading Plan

Deuteronomy 8-11

Bible Versions:

Joshua 1:6 (NLT) — “Be strong and courageous, for you are the one who will lead these people to possess all the land I swore to their ancestors I would give them.

Joshua 1:6 (NLV) — Be strong and have strength of heart. For you will bring the people in to take this land which I promised to their fathers to give them.

Thoughts Of Devotion:

The Lord this morning tells us, “Be strong and courageous.” These words come directly from God to our lives. It is as if the Lord knows and understands beforehand that sometimes we will feel incompetent, or without the ability to meet the challenges that are before us. It brings to mind the words of Isaiah, “Strengthen the weak hands, And make firm the feeble knees.  Say to those who are fearful-hearted, “Be strong, do not fear! Behold, your God will come with vengeance, With the recompense of God; He will come and save you.” (35: 3-4).

Praise God that we are not alone! God Himself is before us in the battlefield. His promise is sure, we will possess the land. All that it will take is to be in good spirits, an unfailing courage, and strength despite the attacks of the enemy on our lives. In 1 Corinthians 16:13 it tells us, “Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong.” Now is not the time to back away, or be filled with fear and doubt. It is the time of God to lift our spiritual weapons and take possession of all that God has for our lives. It’s time to watch and be firm!

There is plenty of land to possess in 2018. We are on the banks of the Jordan and the promise land is wide and abounds with milk and honey. There are countless blessings that await us. I wonder, do you see it? Do you believe it? It definitely will come to pass in our lives! Recall the words of Moses to Joshua in Deuteronomy 31: 7,  “Then Moses called Joshua and said to him in the sight of all Israel, “Be strong and of good courage, for you must go with this people to the land which the Lord has sworn to their fathers to give them, and YOU shall cause them to inherit it.” Our inheritance awaits us, Let us be filled only with strength and courage! – Blessings.
