Thoughts Of Devotion:
What a blessing it is to read the story of the Prophet Samuel,a young man who heard the voice of God personally calling his name. But on three occasions we see that he did not recognize the voice of God, but he thought it was the voice of Eli the priest. It was not until the fourth time that Eli understood that it was Jehovah who called him. We read this in 1 Samuel 3: 8, “Therefore Jehovah called Samuel the third time. And he got up and came to Eli, and said: Here I am; Why did you call me? Then Eli understood that Jehovah called the young man.
The priest’s instruction for young Samuel was, it’s God who iscalling you, answers his call! We can read this in 1 Samuel 3: 9, “And Eli said to Samuel, Go and lie down; and if I call you, you will say: Speak, Jehovah, for your servant hears. So Samuel went and lay down in his place. “By obeying Samuel, he had a revelation from God, a direct word from the Father’s heart to Him! Up to this point Samuel had not had a personal encounter with Jehovah, nor had he received a special revelation. The response to God’s call began a new stage in his spiritual life.
Today I ask you, can you hear the voice of God calling you to a time of intimate communion? It is a clear and persistent voice, a voice that continually calls you to spend a time of intimacy with Him. If you hear the voice of the Holy Spirit in the depths of your heart, do not delay in responding! Remember what He tells us In Hebrews 3: 7-8, “Wherefore as the Holy Spirit saith, If ye will hear his voice this day, harden not your hearts, as in provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness. “
This morning don’t wait another minute to hear the voice of his call, it is time to run to the secret place, to your tabernacle of prayer, your special dwelling where it is only the Holy Spirit and you! A place where there are no distractions, no other voices that divert you or rob you of the best friendship and communion you can have in this world, the person of the Holy Spirit! Your voice and presence is unique, and you will only find it alone in the intimacy of prayer.
Isaiah 6:8 (NKJV) – 8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: “Whom shall I send, And who will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.”

John 10: 3 (NKJV) – 3 To him the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep hear his voice; and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.
John 10:27 (NKJV) – 27 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.
