Thoughts Of Devotion:
Today we must understand that in order to fight and win the spiritual war various important aspects are required of us. It is not only about saying I’m going to fight it takes more than that. Spiritual conflict demands more of us in order to be successful. I have come to the conclusion that if there is something that is needed in spiritual conflict is determination! There is no victory if there is no determination in us to win. Determination in Jesus Christ is what defines whether we will be victorious in the battle. We must focus on the goal of winning, and take the actions necessary to be triumphant in the battle.
The Bible gives us examples of various men that had to determine themselves to be able to see results. One of them being the Apostle Paul, when he confronted opposition and impediments in his life and ministry, he possessed a great determination to continue fighting, his theme was “And everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown.” (1 Corinthians 9:25). He was able to abstain himself and pay the price to be able to obtain the crown of a conqueror. Paul possessed a fixed and secure determination! Nothing was able to stop him; there was no spiritual conflict that could stop him from continuing to fight.
Today we must possess that determination. Spiritual conflict will take everything from us. In occasions our encouragement and spiritual strength will want to diminish to the point of feeling the weight of the battle upon us. We will feel like giving up, but determination in the Lord will push us forward determined to win and obtain the prize of a conqueror! Let us remember the following words when we feel the weight of the battle, “Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me.” (Philippians 3:12). We still have another day of spiritual conflict; with the help of God we will be conquerors in Jesus Christ.
Joshua1:9 (NKJV) — 9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
Joshua 10:25 (NKJV) — 25 Then Joshua said to them, “Do not be afraid, nor be dismayed; be strong and of good courage, for thus the Lord will do to all your enemies against whom you fight.”
1 Corinthians 9:25 (NKJV) — 25 And everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown.
Philippians 3:12 (NKJV) — 12 Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me.
1 Corinthians 9:26 (NKJV) — 26 Therefore I run thus: not with uncertainty. Thus I fight: not as one who beats the air.
2 Peter 1:10 (NKJV) — 10 Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble
