Meditate On These Things

Topic: What You Think About, Determines If We Live With the Peace of God or Filled With Anxiety and Concern.

Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.

Philippians 4:8T (MSG)-Summing it all up, friends, I’d say you’ll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious—the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse.

Philippians 4:8 (NIV)-Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.

Philippians 4:8 (NLT)-And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.

 Devotional Thoughts:

It is very important to examine in what we occupy our minds. The Bible exhorts us to be very careful in that we are continually filling our mind with, what we meditate on daily basis? We know that before we came to the Lord, our minds were occupied in vanities and things that did not build us up. In Ephesians 4: 17-18 he tells us this, ” 17 This I say, therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you should no longer walk as the rest of[a] the Gentiles walk, in the futility of their mind, 18 having their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart; “

Our thoughts will determine our actions and state of mind. We must not allow our mind to be filled with worries, doubts and anxieties. If we allow this to happen, we can never experience the peace of God in the depths of our being! As children of God we now possess a renewed mind, and in the light of the Word of God we possess the mind of Christ. In Romans 12: 2 it exhorts us by saying, “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”

Today it is important to obey the Word of God, it is a priority to be able to fill our minds with things that will build our spiritual life. What we meditate will determine if we are going to become victorious in our daily lives. Remember what Joshua 1: 8 tells us, ” This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.” This morning we meditate on all that is good, truth, honesty, justice, pure, kind and all that is of good name. Only this way will we live free of anxiety and filled with the peace of God.

Proverbs 16: 3 (NKJV) – 3 Commit your works to the Lord, And your thoughts will be established.

1 Corinthians 2:16-For “who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him?”[a] But we have the mind of Christ.

Proverbs 23: 7 (NKJV) – 7 For as he thinks in his heart, so is he. “Eat and drink!” he says to you, But his heart is not with you.

2 Corinthians 10: 5 (NKJV) – casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,

1 Thessalonians 5:21 (NKJV) – 21 Test all things; hold fast what is good.

James 3:17 (NKJV) – 17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.

Titus 1:15 (NKJV) – 15- To the pure all things are pure, but to those who are defiled and unbelieving nothing is pure; but even their mind and conscience are defiled.
