It is important to understand the Word must always be accompanied with miracles, signs and wonders, The Word returns empty! It’s very clear that the first disciples preached boldly, and the results were great signs and wonders followed them. In Acts 14:3 confirms this to us, “Therefore they stayed there a long time, speaking boldly in the Lord, who was bearing witness to the word of His grace, granting signs and wonders to be done by their hands. ” The preaching of the Word was not only proclaiming the truth, but there was evidence throught its power.
The work of the Holy Spirit was evident in the preaching of the Word. The disciples were well accompanied by the power to heal; sigs and wonders were part of their ministry. In Hebrews 2: 4 it tells us, “God also bearing witness both with signs and wonders, with various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit, according to His own will?” God Himself, through the work of the Holy Spirit, performed miracles after they preached the power of the gospel. The preaching and the wonders of God went hand in hand. Continuously the lives of many people were impacted by the work of the Holy Spirit, it was something supernatural that happened!
Despite the threats and oppositions experienced by the disciples, the Holy Spirit continued to work. They were instruments of the Holy Spirit, not just their lips to preach, but their hands were used to heal! We see in Acts 4: 29-30 where they prayed saying, “Now, Lord, look on their threats, and grant to Your servants that with all boldness they may speak Your word, 30 by stretching out Your hand to heal, and that signs and wonders may be done through the name of Your holy Servant Jesus.” We should pray on this day that our lives will be used to bring healing and hope to those who need to experience the power of God in their lives. Not just a gospel of words, but a gospel of power! Where we can see the supernatural work of the Holy Spirit
