But The Spirit Himself Makes Intercession For Us
Theme: The Holy Spirit Prays for Us, He Intercede!
Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
Romans 8:26 (NKJV)
Daily Reading Plan
Romans 8:26 (NIV)- 26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.
Romans 8:26-28 (MSG)- 26 Meanwhile, the moment we get tired in the waiting, God’s Spirit is right alongside helping us along. If we don’t know how or what to pray, it doesn’t matter. He does our praying in and for us, making prayer out of our wordless sighs, our aching groans.
Romans 8:26 (NLT)-26 And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words.
Sometimes we are going to feel overwhelmed by the circumstances we face in life. We will come to prayer without really knowing what to pray for, or how to pray. It’s in these moments that we must depend on the help of the Holy Spirit. The Word of God promises us that He will help us in our weakness. I like the way this version of Romans 8:26 says, “Meanwhile, the moment we get tired in the waiting, God’s Spirit is right alongside helping us along. If we don’t know how or what to pray, it doesn’t matter. He does our praying in and for us, making prayer out of our wordless sighs, our aching groans” (The Word: God’s Message for Me –Spanish Version).
We are called to pray in the Holy Spirit. This is the key to pray according to the will of God and not ours. We often do not know how to pray, but the Holy Spirit does know how to pray! He intercedes for us according to the will of the Father and not ours! In Ephesians 6:18 it says, “praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints.” Prayer in the Spirit will build our life. His plans and purpose will be carried out, because we will not only pray in our own understanding, but the prayer will be with the eternal knowledge of the Holy Spirit. Only He truly knows the eternal plans of God for our lives.
In this morning seek the Holy Spirit, fill yourself with His presence, and ask him to baptize you! When one is baptized with the Holy Spirit, one receives the gift of praying in tongues. In 1 Corinthians 14: 2 it tells us, “For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries.” Today more than ever we need the help of the Holy Spirit, we need to be believers filled with His power and anointing. Through prayer in the Holy Spirit our spiritual life will be built up and we will experience another level of prayer. In conclusion, I leave you with this scripture of Jude 20, “But you, beloved, building yourselves upon your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit.”

Philippians 1:22-23 (NKJV)-22 But if I live on in the flesh, this will mean fruit from my labor; yet what I shall choose I cannot tell. 23 For I am hard-pressed between the two, having a desire to depart and be with Christ, which is far better.
