Bible Versions:

Psalm 55:22 (NIV)-22 Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.

Psalm 55:22 (NET Bible)-22 Throw your burden upon the Lord, and he will sustain you. He will never allow the godly to be upended.

Psalm 55:22-23The Message (MSG)- 22 Pile your troubles on God’s shoulders— he’ll carry your load, he’ll help you out. He’ll never let good people topple into ruin.

Devotional Thoughts:

In life we go through moments that we feel like giving up, moments where the burden can feel very heavy. It is in those moments that the Holy Spirit helps us to cope with the situation we face. In 1 Peter 5: 7 he tells us once more, “casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.” All we have to do is learn to put our worries into the hands of the Lord. We are not called to carry what only God can carry. If His Word says cast your burden, then we have to be obedient to Him.

Jesus himself said it in Matthew 11: 29-30, “Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” The burden of the Lord is light, his yoke is not difficult, one can bear it very easily! But for this to happen it will be necessary to exchange our own burden, our worries and problems for the yoke of the Lord, his burden will be light because he bears it! Our shoulders will grow tired, our strength will be exhausted, but if we learn to go to the Lord we will never faint.

Today the Holy Spirit helps us to cope with every situation in life, we will never faint if we trust Him! As Psalm 27: 13-14 tells us, “I would have lost heart, unless I had believed That I would see the goodness of the Lord In the land of the living. Wait on the Lord; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the Lord!”  This morning it is important to learn to wait on God, not to run with our own plan, or in our own knowledge, let us wait in prayer for the strength of the Holy Spirit! He is our helper, counselor and faithful friend. He will be with us in every difficult situation to help us continue our journey. The burden will be light and yoke easy because he will hold us forever.

Foundational Scriptures:

Matthew 11:28 (NKJV)-28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Exodus 18:22 (NKJV)-22 And let them judge the people at all times. Then it will be that every great matter they shall bring to you, but every small matter they themselves shall judge. So it will be easier for you, for they will bear the burden with you.

Numbers 11:11 (NKJV)-11 So Moses said to the Lord, “Why have You afflicted Your servant? And why have I not found favor in Your sight, that You have laid the burden of all these people on me?

Numbers 11:17 (NKJV)-17 Then I will come down and talk with you there. I will take of the Spirit that is upon you and will put the same upon them; and they shall bear the burden of the people with you, that you may not bear it yourself alone.

Galatians 6:5 (NKJV)-For each one shall bear his own – 25 “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?

Psalm 10:6New King James Version (NKJV)-He has said in his heart, “I shall not be moved; I shall never be in adversity.”

1 Samuel 30:6 (NKJV)-Now David was greatly distressed, for the people spoke of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and his daughters. But David strengthened himself in the Lord his God.

Psalm 40:17New King James Version (NKJV)-17 But I am poor and needy; Yet the Lord thinks upon me. You are my help and my deliverer; Do not delay, O my God.
