7 Principles To Establish A Closer Friendship With The Holy Spirit…

2nd Principle

Loyalty Is A Virtue Required, The Holy Spirit Must Have A Unique Place In Our Lives!

Daily Reading Plan

Job 20-22

Bible Versions:

New International Version (NIV)-17  A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for a time of adversity.

Living Translation (NLT)- 17 A friend is always loyal, and a brother is born to help in time of need.

The Message (MSG)-17  Friends love through all kinds of weather, and families stick together in all kinds of trouble.

Devotional Thoughts:

Our love and friendship should be for God alone, nothing else should take the place of the Holy Spirit in our lives! If we want to have a genuine and lasting friendship, we must be loyal to God. There must be an unwavering bond between our friendship with Him, we cannot have two loyalties! We cannot expect to have the Holy Spirit as our best friend when our heart is divided. In Matthew 6:24 it tells us, ” No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.

Loyalty is a virtue that develops and implies being able to fulfill a commitment, even in the face of adverse circumstances! Loyalty is a serious obligation that one has for another person. Today we must have a loyal friendship with the Holy Spirit. A loyalty that loves, that engages, that obeys in every situation. John 14:16 tells us, ” And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever. ” The Holy Spirit will be our most loyal friend we can have, He will never leave us!

The Holy Spirit longs to have a loyal friendship with us. At every moment of our life he wants to be our comforter, our friend, our guide. We can trust that His friendship will always lead us to places of blessing and provision. He will never leave us or abandon us, He will be with us until the end! He will be our faithful friend, and trustworthy companion. Hebrews 13: 5-6 tells us, “For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” So we may boldly say: “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?”  Thanks to the Holy Spirit, he is our faithful best friend!

Foundational Scriptures:

Proverbs 16:7 (NKJV)-7 When a man’s ways please the Lord, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.

Proverbs 18:24 (NKJV)-24  A man who has friends must himself be friendly, But there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.

Proverbs 27:9 (NKJV)-9  Ointment and perfume delight the heart, And the sweetness of a man’s friend gives delight by hearty counsel.

Ruth 1:16-17New King James Version (NKJV) 16 But Ruth said: “Entreat me not to leave you, Or to turn back from following after you; For wherever you go, I will go; And wherever you lodge, I will lodge; Your people shall be my people, And your God, my God. 17 Where you die, I will die, And there will I be buried.  The Lord do so to me, and more also, If anything but death parts you and me.”
