Daily Reading Plan
Psalms 40:16 (MSG) — But all who are hunting for you— oh, let them sing and be happy. Let those who know what you’re all about tell the world you’re great.
Psalms 40:16 (NLT) — But may all who search for you be filled with joy and gladness in you. May those who love your salvation repeatedly shout, “The Lord is great!”
As I meditate on this portion of Scripture I think about how many people seek to have joy and happiness in their lives! I believe this is one of the things that all people in this world look to have. Many of them want to have joy and satisfaction in their lives. In this search there are many who want to find a new relationship, something material, so many things that at the end of the day will leave a void in their hearts! Many at the end of the day find themselves disillusioned, not finding the happiness and joy that they desire.
The Bible is very clear in warning us in 1 John 2:16-17, “because everything in the world, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, not from the Father but from the world. The world is passing away, and the lust … “. Reading this is very clear that nothing in this world can give us the happiness and joy we seek. Seeking this in the world will be a waste of time and effort. We will never find a genuine and true joy in the world. One must come to the conclusion that the only thing that will give us lasting happiness is, Jesus Christ!
Being in His presence and enjoying His intimate communion, is the greatest joy that every human being can possess. Nothing compares to the joy of being in His presence and enjoying the fullness of all that the Lord gives us. So the Psalmist declares to us in Psalm 16:11, “You will show me the path of life: in thy presence is fullness of joy. Delights at your right hand forever” Glory be to God because in the secret place of prayer there is no shortage of joy! When we live in His presence our heart is filled with an incomparable joy. On this day we must not seek joy anywhere else, but in His presence.
Psalms 70:4 (NKJV) — Let all those who seek You rejoice and be glad in You; And let those who love Your salvation say continually, “Let God be magnified!”
Psalms 68:3 (NKJV) — But let the righteous be glad; Let them rejoice before God; Yes, let them rejoice exceedingly.
Acts 16:25–26 (NKJV) — But at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone’s chains were loosed.
Psalms 16:11 (NKJV) — You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
Psalms 21:6 (NKJV) — For You have made him most blessed forever; You have made him exceedingly glad with Your presence.
