Rejoice And Be Glad In You

Topic: Seeking The Lord Leads Us To Joy And Happiness

Let all those who seek You rejoice and be glad in You; Let such as love Your salvation say continually, “The Lord be magnified!”

Psalms 40:16 (NKJV)

Daily Reading Plan

Nehemiah 12-13

 Bible Versions:

Psalms 40:16 (MSG) — But all who are hunting for you— oh, let them sing and be happy. Let those who know what you’re all about tell the world you’re great.

Psalms 40:16 (NLT) — But may all who search for you be filled with joy and gladness in you. May those who love your salvation repeatedly shout, “The Lord is great!”

Devotional Thought:

As I meditate on this portion of Scripture I think about how many people seek to have joy and happiness in their lives! I believe this is one of the things that all people in this world look to have. Many of them want to have joy and satisfaction in their lives. In this search there are many who want to find a new relationship, something material, so many things that at the end of the day will leave a void in their hearts! Many at the end of the day find themselves disillusioned, not finding the happiness and joy that they desire.

The Bible is very clear in warning us in 1 John 2:16-17, “because everything in the world, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, not from the Father but from the world. The world is passing away, and the lust … “. Reading this is very clear that nothing in this world can give us the happiness and joy we seek. Seeking this in the world will be a waste of time and effort. We will never find a genuine and true joy in the world. One must come to the conclusion that the only thing that will give us lasting happiness is, Jesus Christ!

Being in His presence and enjoying His intimate communion, is the greatest joy that every human being can possess. Nothing compares to the joy of being in His presence and enjoying the fullness of all that the Lord gives us. So the Psalmist declares to us in Psalm 16:11, “You will show me the path of life: in thy presence is fullness of joy. Delights at your right hand forever” Glory be to God because in the secret place of prayer there is no shortage of joy! When we live in His presence our heart is filled with an incomparable joy. On this day we must not seek joy anywhere else, but in His presence.
