“The Lord bless you and keep you; The Lord make His face shine upon you, And be gracious to you; The Lord lift up His countenance upon you, And give you peace.” ’
Numbers 6:24-26 (NKJV)
Daily Reading Plan
2 Chronicles 25-28
Numbers 6:24–26 (MSG) — God bless you and keep you, God smile on you and gift you, God look you full in the face and make you prosper.
Numbers 6:24–26 (NLT) — ‘May the Lord bless you and protect you. May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you. May the Lord show you his favor and give you his peace.’
The portion of Scripture we read today reflects what is known as “the priestly blessing.” Priests of the Old Testament used to pronounce the blessing at the end of the daily sacrifice that was presented to the Lord. They would direct themselves to the town declaring this prayer. We see how they closed the prayer by imploring to the Lord to lift and shine his face upon His people. What a glorious and precious prayer request! They recognized that if the Lord’s face shined on his people it would likely produce peace in their hearts. A peace that only the Lord’s presence could bring.
The Lord promises to be with us this morning, as in Isaiah 41:10 says, “Fear not, for I am with you: be not dismayed, for I am your God: I will strengthen you, yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness”. His presence will be with us instilling peace in our hearts. By knowing and understanding that He is with, it should produce security and peace in our lives. This peace will help us face the difficulties and trials that come against us. As difficult or impossible as it may seem to be, His presence will make a difference in the midst of our situation!
Let us pray That today we get to live in His presence. That Your Presence may always be the desire of our hearts. His Presence can be found if only we seek Him wholeheartedly. There is no reason why we should be living without peace in our lives, He is at our reach, if only you seek Him! Declare the Psalmist’s words This Morning, “Why are you downcast, O my soul, and disquieted Within Me? Hope in God, for I shall yet praise him, my Savior and my God” (Psalm 42:5). If we seek His presence, He will give us plenty of peace and all anxiety and worry will have to flee.
Isaiah 41:10 (NKJV) — Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’
Psalms 4:6 (NKJV) — There are many who say, “Who will show us any good?” Lord, lift up the light of Your countenance upon us.
Psalms 42:5 (NKJV) — Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him For the help of His countenance.
Acts 2:28 (NKJV) — You have made known to me the ways of life; You will make me full of joy in Your presence.’
