The Serpent Deceived By His Craftiness

Topic: The Enemy Seeks To Deceive us

But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.

2 Corinthians 11:3 (NKJV)

Daily Reading Plan

1 Chronicles 27-29

Bible Versions:

2 Corinthians 11:3 (NLT) — 3 But I fear that somehow your pure and undivided devotion to Christ will be corrupted, just as Eve was deceived by the cunning ways of the serpent.

2 Corinthians 11:3 (NIV) — 3 But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent’s cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ.

2 Corinthians 11:3 (MSG) — 3 I’m afraid that exactly as the Snake seduced Eve with his smooth patter, you are being lured away from the simple purity of your love for Christ.

Thoughts Of Devotion:

The Bible describes the enemy as one that deceives humanity. From the beginning we are able to see how his wit deceived Eve. In Genesis 3:13, we read Eve’s response after being seduced by the enemy,”” The enemy’s role in paradise was one of deceiving and through his wit he was able to tempt and make Adam and Eve sin. Since then everything changed and sin entered humanity, all because of a deception!

Today things have not changed much; the enemy continues to use his wit and deception in our lives as believers. The Apostle Paul alerted the church of Ephesus that they would no longer be fluctuating like children being deceived by the enemy,”” (Ephesians 4:14). We must be careful in the same way to not allow ourselves to be deceived by the enemy with his lies and falsehood. His plan is to bring down the truth with his lies. He has been a liar from the beginning!

I ask you this morning, has the enemy tried to deceive you today? Have you paid attention to his lies? Remember that he dresses as an angel of light, “” (2 Corinthians 11:14). His plan is to separate you from God’s perfect will and purpose for your life. Let us pray today that we would not give place for the enemy! We are living in dangerous times, the last days where many will be deceived, “” (Matthew 24:24). Let us make the difference today; let us not be deceived! That we would be filled with the truth, His Word is True.

Foundational Scriptures:

1 Thessalonians 3:5 (NKJV) — 5 For this reason, when I could no longer endure it, I sent to know your faith, lest by some means the tempter had tempted you, and our labor might be in vain.

Revelations 12:9 (NKJV) — 9 So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

Ephesians 4:14 (NKJV) — 14 that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting,

Matthew 24:24 (NKJV) — 24 For false Christ’s and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.

  1. The enemy tries to take down the lord’s strongest soldiers, none of us are prone to distractions of the enemy. But the Holy Spirit is what can keep us away from falling into temptation!!!
