I Would Have Lost Heart

Topic: Faith Is A Personal Trust In God

I would have lost heart, unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait on the Lord; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the Lord!

Psalms 27:13–14 (NKJV)

Daily Reading Plan

1 Chronicals

Bible Versions:

Psalms 27:13–14 (NLT) — 13 Yet I am confident I will see the Lord’s goodness while I am here in the land of the living. Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord.

Psalms 73:25 (NLT) — 25 Whom have I in heaven but you? I desire you more than anything on earth.

Psalms 18:2 (NLT) — 2 The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety.

Thoughts Of Devotion:

Our faith can only be deposited in a single person, God. Where would we be if God would not have intervened in our lives? The Psalmist declares it very well, “I had fainted, unless I believed I would see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living” (Psalm 27:13). On how many occasions have we slipped and fallen away from our trust in God as a result of our condition. In the times that problems, conflicts, disappointments and so many more things have come into our lives. Certainly we would have fainted and sunk in the pits of despair. If it were not for the help of the Lord!

There will be situations in life in which only God can help us and move us forward. Let us not forget this morning that our God in heaven has no limits or impossibilities. For Him all things are possible! Come what may, we raise our eyes to heaven and say, “Who do I have I in heaven but you? And besides You, I desire nothing on earth “(Psalm 73:25). Absolutely nothing will do what God does. Our desire should always be to seek God in every situation that we face. Trusting only in him and no one else!

Today we must affirm our lives on the rock that is Christ. His Word is our refuge in every situation. The Psalms 119:92 tells us “If your law had not been my delight, I would have perished in my affliction.” Let us pray this morning that his law would always be our delight and refuge. When we find ourselves wanting to escape our situation or trial, let us run to the Lord! Our faith is in the Lord and in the promises that he has left us. In Romans 10:17 he promises us that, “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
