Whom Have I In Heaven But You?

Topic: How Is Our Passion For The Lord?

Whom have I in heaven but You? And there is none upon earth that I desire besides You.

Psalm 73:25 (NKJV)

Daily Reading Plan

1 Chronicles 6-7

Bible Versions:

Psalm 73:25 (NLT) — 25 Whom have I in heaven but you? I desire you more than anything on earth.

Psalm 73:25 (MSG) — 25 You’re all I want in heaven! You’re all I want on earth!

Psalm 73:25 (NIV) — 25 Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you.

Thoughts of Devotion:

Only God can fulfill our lives, he’s all sufficient! There is nothing more we need if we have the Lord. He is the only one who can fill the void; our spiritual, emotional and physical needs. That is to say, “Whoever has God lacks nothing; God alone suffices “ (Tersa de Avila). There is nothing in heaven or on earth we want could want more than HIM. Oh how we should long for and yearn the Lord’s presence in our lives! Psalm 16: 2 says it very clearly, “O my soul, you have said to the Lord, “You are my Lord, My goodness is nothing apart from You.”

How much more do we really need to desire for God? I think we can all make an effort to love and long for more of the Lord daily. Don’t forget that He alone is worthy of our highest love and dedication! In Matthew 10:37 Jesus himself tells us, “He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me.” Nothing should take priority aside from God in our lives, the love and passion we have for the Lord must surpass everything in this world.

All our love, desire and aspiration should be directed to our communion with the Lord. That we could declare, if I’m with you, I want nothing on earth! I think, what more can we want than the presence of God in our lives? Nothing satisfies our spiritual hunger and thirst in this world! Our whole being must long for the living God this morning, as we declared Psalm 42: 1-2, ” As the deer pants for the water brooks, So pants my soul for You, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God?” Let us pray that today this scripture can be real in our lives. Blessings!
