Thoughts Of Devotion:
As we approach the Word of the Lord there must be in us a great desire to read and study. But unfortunately today there are some believers who have lost the passion to deepen in the Scriptures. There is no longer an arduous desire to search them and read them daily. They are deficient in their spiritual food of the Word, and as a result there is no spiritual fruit in their lives. In 1 Peter 2: 2 he tells us, “as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby.”
If there is something we must want passionately today, it is to be able to digest and assimilate the Word of God in our lives. More than anything we must seek this priority! We must achieve to have his word in us daily, that it will be our waking and our laying down. As told in Joshua 1: 8, “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.”
This morning, I ask have you lost a burning desire for the Word of God in your life? Do you not delight in spending time reading and meditating on the Scriptures? We must remember that there is no greater joy and peace that we find in His Word. In Jeremiah 15:16 it tells us, ” Your words were found, and I ate them, And Your word was to me the joy and rejoicing of my heart; For I am called by Your name, O Lord God of hosts.” Today we have to fill ourselves well with his Word, we must keep it in the depths of our being! Only in this way can we grow and be mature believers in the Lord.
Job 23:12 (NKJV) — 12 I have not departed from the commandment of His lips; I have treasured the words of His mouth More than my necessary food.
Psalm 112:1 (NKJV) — 112 Praise the Lord! Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, Who delights greatly in His commandments.
Jeremiah 15:16 (NKJV) — 16 Your words were found, and I ate them, And Your word was to me the joy and rejoicing of my heart; For I am called by Your name, O Lord God of hosts.
Psalm 119:72 (NKJV) — 72 The law of Your mouth is better to me Than thousands of coins of gold and silver.
Psalm 119:103 (NKJV) — 103 How sweet are Your words to my taste, Sweeter than honey to my mouth!
Hosea 6:3 (NKJV) — 3 Let us know, Let us pursue the knowledge of the Lord. His going forth is established as the morning; He will come to us like the rain, Like the latter and former rain to the earth.
