Theme: Life In The Spirit, It Is By The Narrow Way!
Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. 14 Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it. Matthew 7: 13-14 (RVR60)
Daily Reading Plan
1 Kings 19-21
Matthew 7:13-14 (MSG)-13-14 “Don’t look for shortcuts to God. The market is flooded with surefire, easygoing formulas for a successful life that can be practiced in your spare time. Don’t fall for that stuff, even though crowds of people do. The way to life—to God!—is vigorous and requires total attention.
Matthew 7:13-14 (NIV)-13 “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.
Matthew 7:13-14 (NLT)-13 “You can enter God’s Kingdom only through the narrow gate. The highway to hell[a] is broad, and its gate is wide for the many who choose that way.14 But the gateway to life is very narrow and the road is difficult, and only a few ever find it.
Walking in the Holy Spirit is a narrow walk, and if we are honest many times there are few believers who manage to walk in His fullness; but on the contrary walking in the flesh is wide, sadly many choose this path! At times, it may seem that it is easier for us to walk in the flesh, and in our own understanding, than to walk in the Spirit and live lives consecrated to Him! It is for this very reason that we must take the narrow and difficult path, and abandon the easy path known by many, but at the end of the day leads to death!
2 Corinthians 6:17 gives us this exhortation, “Therefore “Come out from among them And be separate, says the Do not touch what is unclean, And I will receive you.” This is a call to make a difference, to come out from among the crowd and walk in the Holy Spirit. If we do not answer this call, we will end up living like the rest of the world, going according to their ways, every day absent from presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives. In Romans 8:13 he gives us this warning, ” For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.“
This morning it is important to examine, which way are we taking? Our decisions will affect our future and destiny in God. Today we can choose the easy way and end up failing in life; or we can take the difficult road and live and abundant a life. In Proverbs 4: 26-27 we are told, ” Ponder the path of your feet, And let all your ways be established. Do not turn to the right or the left; Remove your foot from evil. ” In other words, this verse tells us to stay focused, no matter what, do not take the easy path of the flesh, but pay the price and live a life full of the Holy Spirit! We have to be believers to make a difference, living a life in abundance in the fullness of the Spirit
